The US will support any half assed dictator, tyrant and people with less democratic credentials than the PAP in order to further their national interest. The top three, Egypt, Pakistan and Afghanistan

Its a strictly personal grudge fight between the Chee's and the Lee's on this issue with no clear defined political objective or gain. The more the world sings LKY's praises and Singapore's praises, the more he must paint the opposing picture

I mean most people are trying to convince other people that the PAP is not Singapore and the Singapore is not the PAP and here is a message or an impression to the contrary.

Singaporeans are not that different from people from less democratic countries which I have met. The innate human reaction is to be proud of their country despite the flaws and to defend their country to the core. They will after a few beers and much friendship acknowledge the flaws and problems but innately they remain proud.

Dr Chee by his methodology alienates a large proportion of the overseas educated who thought they might agree with his points would disagree with his methods

chee would go to great length to fulfil his mission for his foreign backed financier. his mission is to smear singapore and bring the whole nation down to his knees. ironically, he also professes that he is "concerned for our welfare". his greatest concern now is hopefully he can convince obama to sanction singapore and send more gloom n doom to our economy. that sadly is his most utmost way of showing concern for our beloved country. ain't he our most beloved national traitor?

I was wondering what's the big hooha. Then I saw a tiny link "Click here to listen". Chee was simply repeating like a tape-recorder a few facts in an extremely short radio interview.

1. The opposition is anaemic in Singapore.
2. A political prisoner, Chia Tai Poh had been imprisoned longer than Mandela.
3. There is a new law to curtail peaceful protests.
4. He is not leaving the country despite being prosecuted (or persecuted).
5. Accountability and transparency are important as evident in the recent banking crisis.

The only comment he made is that it's a shame for Obama to come to this part of the world to speak on trade and not taking into consideration the rights of people that America does business with. Where the hell did the rara boys hear Chee urging USA to boycott Singapore? I guess some of your earwax is as thick as your skulls.

Are the rara boys aka internet brigade disagreeing violently with facts like the opposition is anaemic in Singapore? or that Chia had been in prison longer than Mandela?

If Chee is an ass for making a small comment, the rara boys must huge assholes for talking as if they own USA and its people.

You summed it up well. That has been the nature of Chee since he took over SDP. I was so pleased that they were fielding candidates and the next message was that he was in the US giving radio shows.

However one has to agree that objectively speaking, he may well be doing more harm than good to himself and to his beloved SDP. It's a question of image. No doubt he's a driven man but his detractors will say that he is one embittered traitor and a sore loser to boot. As for me, I'll say that while his ideas/ideology (i.e.theory) is good, the implementation/tactics (practical) leaves much to be desired.
The results or rather the lack thereof speak for itself! :(

Or maybe he is a PAP spy sent to destroy SDP. SDP was a well supported opposition party before Chee became leader. After he became leader, their vote % has been sliding with each elections and as it stands, they are the party who got the least % of votes during the last elections. Funny how the downfall of a strong opposition party like SDP coincide with the rise of Chee within the party and the former chief leaving

I don't think so though, although people tend to think along those lines as he tends to sabotage his own party similar to the last elections. I think he got a complex and the sense that he some kind of gandhi / mandela which often quoted by him and the party. I remember during the hunger strike, he did not hide the fruit juice and glucose while giving interviews.

No 1st world or even 3rd word politician will raise these figures as they will laughed at.

I think he is genuine, sincere and fixated but not realistic. When the party CEC got sued prior to the last GE, the split between him and the rest were very clear. He did not seem to grasp that not only they forked out $13K, they now had to pay legal costs, kowtow to a old man and his silly son. It cost them dearly for statements that he made.

There have been instances where old timers have compared Chee with Lee in during Lee's younger days.

I have been noticing a double standard among the anti-SDP camp. It is perfectly alright for the PAP leaders to go around the world telling everyone all is well in Singapore (when the opposite is true), and so our problems are conveniently ignored. But if Dr Chee goes out and tell the world of the oppression going on in Singapore, these anti-SDP propagandists come out in force and criticise him for this and that.

On the one hand, the PAP leaders spin a propaganda that will not benefit Singaporeans, because even if the Americans, Europeans or Japanese open new firms or factories in Singapore, the bulk of low and mid level jobs will still go to foreigners (thanks to the PAP). And on the other hand, Dr Chee, by alerting the international community to our plight, may very well save us one day, when a 'freak election result' occurs and some paranoid leader calls out the army (or his Gurkha guards).

So I really really really doubt where these anti-SDP propagandists stand. Are they with us (Singaporeans) or the PAP (who are so elitist they are no longer 'lesser mortals')?

Dear Singa

No one is objecting to his story of oppression in Singapore even if we disagree about the extent of it and how or whether Dr Chee is another Ang Sung or Mandela.

What we are objecting to is him telling the rest of the world not to do business with Singapore because its human rights suck.

I can disagree with the PAP about how to split the cake from economic growth, in fact I want to split the cake differently or believe that the cake can be baked a different way. The doctor just wants to destroy the cake for everybody in the name of democracy and human rights.

He might enjoy bankruptcy or delight in it but the rest of us know where our economic bread is buttered

People grumble when old man does his spin tour. People grumbled when he used the SIA jumbo. Now we are grumbling about the same thing.

Who are these talk show hosts. Never heard of them until now. My understanding is that they have no clout but reach out to some ignorant segment of society.

He is also misleading the americans by claiming that he was jailed 7 times. Why does he not qualify and say that most were small fines that he refused to pay in order to go to jail. Low, Chiam and other opposition parties could have done the same, chalking up fines and not paying. But it does not work.

Tell him to do something effective and constructive. If he can't get elected, at least get others in his party to get elected. He seemed to relish the role of a matyr but likes to travel to the US. Nice routine.

He reminds me of teenage girl that repeatedly slashes both her arms for attention. For some reason, they never kill themselves. Stop the drama, fight the elections and get rid of the fucking PAP.

You are right, its not from the right of the American Political Spectrum, its from the left or basically friendly fire and collateral damage. :_))

I would say that American Presidents dance to the left or to the right in order to win the nomination and two step to govern from the centre right or centre left when they win.
