During two-hour enforcement operation by NEA, a few people were caught breaking the rules. The NEA officers did the rounds to see whether smokers are adhering to the new rules. More places in Singapore have become smoker-free from yesterday.
They included lift lobbies, markets, multi-storey carparks, hotel lobbies, ferry terminals, playgrounds, exercise areas, non air-conditioned shopping centres, shops, factories, offices, and within 5 metres of entrances and exits.
First time offenders caught smoking in prohibited places can be fined $200 and repeat offenders fined up to $1000.
Casinos
However casinos in the upcoming integrated resorts in Sentosa and Marina Bay have been exempted from the ban, though operator will have to draw up house rules to protect non-smokers, the NEA said.
Along with more smoke-free areas, smokers here can only smoke specially labeled cigarettes that will distinguish the duty-paid ones from contraband.

Fark government no money again.

To prevent government agencies and agents from being effective in collecting money from us .

We propose a Stay at home and not Spend ultimatum !

Let the economy rot !

Smokers will become an endangered specie when there are hardly any places for them to thrive breathing in carbon dioxide and nitocine. The casino will be the only place where they can live heathily.

Like Genting, there will be sections in the casinos for non-smokers.

When money is concerned there will be exemption for smokers.

You stay @ home, you still have to contibute to their well-being!, the Town Council's need you cash, or your whatever fees you have to pay, if you live in aprivate apartment, your TV Licence, your utilities bill, your consumption constitute a 7% tax to help the 'poor' (them), thing!..your are already spending!.:D, by staying at home!!!!

They are not interested in your health, they are using the health issues to make money out of people. Look at the taxes collected for tobacco!, where does it go?. The price difference between Singapore & the other countries is so wide, that, there is a thriving & booming cigarette sumggling industry!. If they are really concern, BAN CIGARETTE, like they had banned chewing gums. You think, they will!, you bet!..big money, man!, you smoke, you die, your business, get sick, let me chek wether you have means to pay or not!!

GREED is the word!
