RWS workers' buses add to bus bay jam

IT HAS been a month since the first casino opened at Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) and the Universal Studio theme park began operations last Thursday. Demand for public transport to RWS will rise, in particular shuttle bus service RWS 8.
The bus service to RWS has created unnecessary delays to public bus service operations at the bus stop outside HarbourFront Tower along Telok Blangah Road. It is worse when two or three private buses meant to pick up workers at RWS park together in the small bus bay, which hinders public bus operations especially during peak hours.
I suggest that the authorities look at ways to improve public transport journey times along this busy corridor. The workers' shuttle bus pickup point can be relocated to the public bus stop at Maritime Square currently used by SBS service 409, which operates only on weekends.
The RWS 8 should become a point-to-point service, calling only at the VivoCity and Telok Blangah Road (before Seah Im Road) bus stops on the main island as it is best to reduce the number of buses using the smaller HarbourFront Tower bus stop.
