Last chance to see ILO ILO 爸妈不在家 in Singapore cinemas this weekend!

Don't understand the hype? Go see it for yourself!

Check out cinema and showtimes here: http://goo.gl/lXu8Lx

We're still floating on cloud nine following the amazing events that occurred over the weekend! Here are some of our favorite moments from our Golden Horse Adventures...

1. Team ILO ILO sharing a beautiful team moment before heading off for the award ceremony. Little did they know what the night had in store for them.

2. Team ILO ILO, still in disbelief, celebrating after winning 4 incredible awards...

3. Director Anthony Chen at last getting the chance to sit down and talk with his personal idol Ang Lee, who dropped by the ILO ILO after-party to congratulate the team and offer some words of wisdom to our young director.

4. The ILO ILO team finally getting the chance to relax on their final day in Taipei at none other than a Taiwanese night market!

Thank you once again for sharing these moments with us!

Ilo Ilo puts any of Jack Neo's movies in the shade. Jack is a fucked-up director; his movies consist basically of short comedy skits stitched up together to form a feature film. And it's lame slapstick comedy to boot. No art, poor direction, mediocre cinematography, lousing acting.

Only the 60.1% can fall in love with Jack's movies.

Agree. Only the brainless will enjoy his film !:o

Just in: Even more great news for this rainy Saturday afternoon - ILO ILO has won the Audience Award at the Tokyo Filmex Film Festival!!! The Audience Award, as its name implies, is given to the film from the Competition and Special Screenings section, based on the vote of the audience. As such, this is something that we hold dear in our hearts as it is the first award for ILO ILO that is given to us from an audience. Director Anthony Chen tells us that the Japanese audience even applauded after the screening of ILO ILO! This is wonderful news, and it definitely brings a smile to our faces  Congratulations once again to Anthony, the cast and crew of ILO ILO  Happy Saturday everyone, hip hip hooray!!!

SINGAPORE: Singapore director Anthony Chen’s award-winning debut feature film “Ilo Ilo” broke through the S$1 million box-office barrier on Monday, in the second week of its re-release here.

The film has raked in some S$1.06 million in Singapore thus far, a rare feat among locally-produced films.

Despite its box-office performance, “Ilo Ilo” Singapore distributor Golden Village said there are currently no plans to extend the film’s re-release beyond December 11.

Set against the backdrop of the 1997 Asian financial crisis, “Ilo Ilo” explores the relationship between a Singapore family and their Filipino domestic helper.

The film became the first Singaporean production in history to win Best Feature Film earlier this month at the Golden Horse Awards, which is widely regarded as the Oscars of the Asian film industry.

“Ilo Ilo” has done brisk business in France, garnering some 82,000 admissions and making it the best performing Singapore film there.

It has also pulled in over NT$1 million (S$42,400) in Taiwan on its opening weekend.

[/h]Just in: Director Anthony Chen has just won the Achievement in Directing award at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSAs) in Brisbane!!

Established in 2007, the APSAs aims to recognise and promote the cinematic excellence and cultural diversity of the vast Asia Pacific region, and are the region’s highest accolade in film.

Anthony's fellow nominees for the Achievement in Directing award were:

Emir Baigazin for Uroki Garmonii (Harmony Lessons), Kazakhstan, Germany

Hiner Saleem for My Sweet Pepperland, Iraqi Kurdistan, France, Germany

Hirokazu Kore-eda for Soshite chichi ni naru (Like Father, Like Son), Japan

Shahram Mokri for Mahi Va Gorbeh (Fish and Cat), Islamic Republic of Iran

To be in the running for such a prestigious award among such international talent is an amazing honour, even more so when Anthony's favourite contemporary Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-eda was nominated in the same category!

Says Anthony, "I've caught an affinity for Brisbane... three weeks ago I was here for the Brisbane International Film Festival and now I'm back again and have won this award... I'd like to thank all the cast and crew who worked on this film, without their amazing performances we wouldn't have this film."

Congratulations Anthony!! You are amazing and we're so proud of you!!
