Can PRs be judges?

Stupid MIW, get a Malaysian and put him as Judge and then teach in NUS. After working for so many years still didn't want to convert to Citizen but they still let him stay on.

IN THE ongoing trial of law professor Tey Tsun Hang, it was mentioned that he is a Malaysian national and a Singapore permanent resident ("CPIB used strong-arm tactics, says prof"; April 2). It was also stated that he is a former district judge in the Singapore judiciary system.

Some of my friends in the legal industry said they were not aware that a PR can be a judge here. As far as they know, only a Singaporean can be a judge.

Can the Ministry of Law clear up the issue?

Of course PR must be judges. They get more time than normal sinkies who need to do NS every year. How can we allow sinkies judges to take off up to four weeks in a year for reservist and another four weeks of paid annual leave? The courts will be in limbo without sufficient number of judges.

Now get rid of the sinkie judges and get me more ah neh judges. Their legal system is world class and we can surely improve our judicial system with such foreign talents.
