Relief cabby Mr Teo Kian Seng who was charged in court for allegedly “threatening” his PAP MP Lee Yi Shyan has his plea rejected by the court because he continues to insist that he did not intend to cause any alarm to Lee.
According to Channel News Asia, District Judge Low Wee Ping said that Mr Teo will have to be tried as a result.
Mr Teo had gone to meet Lee during a Meet-the-People session in March over a summons his ged mother received for placing her stuff along the corridor.
For some unknown reasons, Mr Teo later brought up the case of Seng Han Thong and allegedly said that he hoped “history will not repeat itself.” and incredibly, Lee lodged a police report against the resident he is supposed to help.
The case sparked an outcry in cyberspace with many netizens lampooning the first-term PAP MP for being “petty”, “unreasonable” and “making a mountain out of a molehill.”
The odds are stacked against Mr Teo as being a relief cabby, he probably does not have the financial resources to employ a top-notch lawyer to defend himself in court with the full weight of the law against him.
If Mr Teo’s plea is accepted, he will most likely be sentenced to jail to serve as a warning for others not to “mess around” with their “higher mortal” PAP MPs.
