Businessman faces 102 counts of corruption involving $65k

A businessman was charged in a district court on Tuesday with giving bribes to six people to assume liability for running illegal gaming houses.

Tan Aik Kim, 50, face a total of 102 counts of corruption involving a total of $65,000.

He is said to have corruptly given bribes of between $1,000 and $39,500 to six people to take the rap for operating illegal gaming houses in places such as Geylang, East Coast, Beach Road, Ang Mo Kio and Rowell Road between 2004 and 2007.

He is also alleged to have agreed to give $1,000 to a seventh man known only as Jack for assuming criminal liability.
