I'm old enough to remember when the Brits where in Spore.You will even hear some of the old generation claim that Spore under the Brits was better place than under the PAP.

For example Changi was open to the public & when the PAP decided to make it into an airport, people stopped going there. When the Brits vacated Sentosa(Pulau Blakang Mati) I and a few friends explored that island. Back then there were even residents who lived there. The PAP expelled the residents & made Sentosa into a commercial tourist trap.
