The header is totally misleading. Very irresponsible !

It literally confirms a CRASH.
He could have phrased it as : Breaking News: Airplane flying towards Singapore reportedly in trouble.

Just imagine the panic of the pax relatives in Singapore who would
have spent tense moments fearing the worst.

Now, got a good look at the picture from CNN, only the outer crust of the engine fell out, probably due to explosion. Thought the plane can disengage it's engine, I'm so wrong.

The engine cowling fell off. Not that serious and not necessarily due
to an explosion. Perhaps the reverse thruster hydraulics leak may
have been the cause. No use speculating anyway. We will know
soon enough.

Engine will fall off if the vibration is above a certain predetermined
safety level, when the bolts holding the engine to the wing
will automatically shear, as per it is designed material strength.
They are called fuzing bolts.
