Re: Breaking: Mega Pasa Malam in Bishan ruined by PRC
During Reservists there was session for Officers to improve on their communication skills. A chap who runs a business from China gave a 20 minute presentation. He gave a well rounded speech but the essence was that you trust the PRC chap at your peril.
Recently a friend told me a price war between a migrant Malaysian Chinese stallholder and a migrant PRC Stallholder at a food court in Australia. They both offer buffet spread for $8. However the PRC lady will tell customers that pass by that its $6.50. This has been going for sometime. The new price is $4 by the PRC while the Malaysian chap has lowered it to $6.50. They had negotiations but the PRC lady keeps insisting that her plate is smaller. By the way, I was told her dishes are crap.
These are not cases of cutting losses after making a bad judgement. These are unacceptable behaviour. The same behaviour is seen in India and Philippines, and MNCs tend to handle these chaps with great care.

In a businesss sense, I find nothing wrong with forfeiting stalls if losses are imminent, as long as they bear whatever forfeiture penalties stipulated, e.g. loss of deposits, blacklisted from future booking of stall berths etc.
