Breaking: Mega Pasa Malam in Bishan ruined by PRC

News across local media, PRC cannot be trusted. The pasa malam organiser felt his image is tarnished for the lack of promise by 100 PRC stallholders who never turned up on 1 Feb resulting in the Bishan megal pasa malam becoming less mega thus less human traffic. Due to the absence of PRC in the event, many stall holders (mostly run by local family) believed their business will not be brisk, some felt betrayed and likely to pull out by 15th of the month instead of waiting until 28th. It was a costly mistake for many local entrepreneurs who believed PRC can help bring business. The organiser is now thinking how they could compensate the stall owner pull through in rental which some have already paid in full and regretted.

Morale of the story, never rely on foreigners. Integrity and promise are never in their dictionary because Singapore is just peesai to them. Singaporeans are still the best pillar in building this country and not some absence minded foreigners. I hope LKY learned his lesson thru this episode which are clear sign of how Singapore will be ruined by PRC.

Heard it was 600 stalls, 300 taken up, 100 reserved for PRC and additional bigger space for PRC to have meal. One stall owner interviewed said he already paid in full to the organiser. Another said he felt misled by organiser for exaggerating the human traffic flow. The organiser said he never expected PRC stood him up. Now all of them leave it to fate while continue to lose money in renting the space they already paid.

Ehh Haven't you heard that Suzhou was a big success for the PAP. They showed the Chinese the Spore way of doing business :D

You think they will share with others the mistakes they made
Very malu lah, they spin & spin until it is portrayed as a success. So others don't learn anything from these expensive lessons & repeat the same mistakes

Re: Breaking: Mega Pasa Malam in Bishan ruined by PRC

Poor planning but blamed PRC, ptui

Deserve it

For the rest of us enlightened ones, Happy Tiger Year

I look at this from another angle. Local stallholders dare not stand up against unreasonable high rental, terms and conditions from the Garmen. But the PRC stallholders are different.

PAP think they are smart to bring in FTs to replace Singaporeans, but these FTs have very different upbringing. They will not suffer quietly like Singaporeans. Now that they are here to stay with pink ICs, if they find it hard to survive, Garmen have to give them more attentions to please them. Otherwise there will be more social unrest.

Who knows maybe PRC will lead the locals to better our future?

What's new? The FTrash will run road at the first sign of trouble! Yet the PAPee TRAITORS are marginalizing Sporns to please them!

I pity the stall holders and staff who have to suffer one long month in that huge heat trap. I am very concerned about the health and comfort of the people visiting and working there.

It may be nice and cozy inside the huge tent on a very windy and cool days.
But how often do we have strong windy days? On windy days, strong wind can help displace hot and stale air by blowing from the side of the huge tent.

Presently, to keep out rain, the rounded tent top is almost completely sealed except for small slits around the water drainage contraptions. On calm windless days, with thousands of people inside, one can imagine the suffering. of course there are many ceiling fans, but what's the point of blowing stale and hot air around and around? What is needed is effective exhausts to suck out the stale and hot air. This is basically known as ventilation.

I pray it won't happen. What about a big fire in the night when all the stalls are closed? How will it affect the flats right next to them? I have not seen any security guards patrolling at night.

Re: Breaking: Mega Pasa Malam in Bishan ruined by PRC

WTF the pasar malam can be erected to undercut the permanent stalls !

Next time HDB erect slums to rent out to FTs to supplement your HDBs .

Re: Breaking: Mega Pasa Malam in Bishan ruined by PRC

Moral of the story is, foreigners from PRC or others, whether jobseekers or entrepreneurs, don't come here to contribute to your economy or business. They come here to make money. In Bishan's case, it's quite obvious that they privately calculated and projected no profits in it, that's why they didn't show up. In a businesss sense, I find nothing wrong with forfeiting stalls if losses are imminent, as long as they bear whatever forfeiture penalties stipulated, e.g. loss of deposits, blacklisted from future booking of stall berths etc.

Personally, I stongly believe that the label of PRCs abandoning stalls causing Singapore stallholders to lose money is another case of self-consolation, excuse finding and scapegoating. If they do take their stalls, and Singaporean stallholders don't make profits, they'd still be blamed for taking business away from Singaporeans.

Honest mistakes will always be made when ministers and civil servants collect safe and high and honest salaries with honest impunity, and immunity from paying personally for honest mistakes. Honest losses will always be made by entrepreneurs who trust in the rosy pictures the authorities paint without thinking for themselves.

To cut it short, they make mistake of judgment, you believe them, you pay.

Is this not what they are doing now by kicking out Sporns in the name of SERS and quickly subletting the Palaces - fully re-furnished - to FTrash at below market rates?

What the PRC FTrash probably did was to 'chop' the space first and then 'wait and see'. In the meantime, the PAPee dogs used this to force Sporns to pay high rentals. The PRC FTrash decided to back out with no loss after seeing how bad the market still is. In the meantime, any Sporn who decided to back out would be sued.

A strong message to Singaporeans to stand up on their own and trust themselves in any business they venture - with or without foreigners. Unfortunately, the retarded PAP policies like to sing praises of foreigners and claim that Singaporeans will not survive without foreigners. The mega pasa malam in Bishan is one good example why we rely so heavily on PRC to bring in the crowds. I hope this episode bring a clear lesson to PAP that foreigners can easily betray Singaporeans in any business. Thus there is no reliability to do business with foreigners - especially from Ah Tiong. I have been shopping in china town but I never buy a single thing from Ah Tiong stall.

You're most probably right. Whatever deposits or penalties involved, they've already factored as option costs to book it. The winners are the organisers, who pocket whatever deposits and penalties on vacant stalls, and continue to collect rentals from stalls which carries on regardless of profits or losses, and like you said, perhaps under fear of lawsuits.
