Agree. How to postpone an event when the date isn't due or fixed. The election rumours have been going on for more than a year no less. The main culprits are Goh Meng Meng (claiming PAP panicking), Locke Liberal and Cleareyes (claiming insider information from so-called connection).

I've said many times since they started this nonsense about early election in 2009. Don't let wishful thinking cloud objective judgment.

You forgot to list Aurvandil with his empirical evidence that elections will be held this year Dec 2010. He got a thread started. I am waiting to pawn that thread when Dec comes:p

He'll have lotsa excuses. Like RADM (minus 6 ranks) Goh Meng Seng, his alter ego. Then wait. Ramseth did mention aurvandil since he already mentioned BG (minus 5 ranks) Goh Meng Seng.

SINGAPORE : The Chairman of the People's Action Party (PAP), Lim Boon Heng, said the next General Election (GE) will likely see all constituencies contested.

Speaking at the PAP's annual awards ceremony on Saturday evening, Mr Lim said this will be a good chance for party branches to gain battle experience.

He said a stronger electoral fight can be expected because political reforms have opened up more chances for the opposition to enter Parliament as Non-Constituency MPs.

"This will be good for our party, as our branches will gain battle experience that will be valuable for future elections. I urge all branches, therefore, to include as many young members as possible in your election committees," said Mr Lim.

Party members said preparations have been going on for months now.

Still, some predict a tough fight.

"There will be higher calibre opposition, which gives voters more choices and this will pose a tougher competition for the PAP. But I think we are confident that we are able to do it well in this election," said Sonny Wee from PAP Sengkang West Branch.

The focus on younger activists is significant because the next generation of Singapore's leaders is expected to emerge from the election, which is due by February 2012. The move is also part of the PAP's drive for self-renewal.

Mr Lim also noted that the party will face a more diverse electorate - a point that resonated with party members.

"The biggest challenge that we are facing is that among the young, the middle-class and the old, their expectations vary differently. And we have to address their issues and moderate them, make them understand that certain policies have to be in place, and that it's good for the future," said Eric Wong, PAP Geylang Serai Branch.

Wong was among the 338 activists who were honoured on Saturday for their contributions to the party.
