Lock-down on the Gulf

["A few minutes ago, I conducted a short interview with documentary filmmaker, James Fox. He is presently in Grand Isle, Louisiana. The closest location to the Gulf oil spill. Before I spoke to James I received a few unsubstantiated reports that I put on the side.

What I'm about to share with you is extremely important. There is an absolute MEDIA BLACKOUT in the area. People are being arrested everywhere. Hotels in a 70-mile radius are completely sold out, yet, you don't see any vans or reporters filming. It's as if the entire area was under siege.

James Fox has witnessed this and he basically just arrived. He says he saw multiple Chevron helicopters flying. He has not seen any military activity. It's as if the oil companies had taken over. James expected to rent a plane to fly over it and that is not possible. The area above the oil spill is now a NO-FLY-ZONE. He will be there for two weeks.

I am issuing this bulleting because James Fox's name needs to be out in the public, as there is a possibility that he will be arrested. I have plans to talk to the Grand Isle's Police Department to get further clarification regarding these arrests, since James people don't even know who is conducting these arrests. James had the opportunity to talk to the son of one of the cleanup workers (former fisherman) and he told him no one is talking. He did say that no one is being told the extent of this disaster. It is much bigger than what is being reported.

The government is NOT IN CONTROL. The ones exercising all influence are the oil companies. Where is our FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHT? I will be posting my interview with James at the forum shortly. When I called him I wanted to remain optimistic and felt people were exaggerating or simply fear mongering. BP buys search term "oil spill" from Google

LONDON (Reuters) - BP Plc has bought terms such as "oil spill" from search engine providers including Google Inc (NASDAQ: GOOG - news) to help direct Internet users to its website as it attempts to control the worst oil spill in U.S. history.
A spokesman said BP would pay fees so its own website would rank higher or even top in the list of results when Internet users search on terms such as "oil spill," "volunteer" and "claims."
BP did not say how much it was paying for the service but President Barack Obama has criticised the company for spending $50 million on TV advertising to bolster its image during the crisis.
BP said it wanted to help people who were trying to access information on the BP website to find it more readily, rather than intending to draw away hits from other sites.
"We know people are looking for those terms on our website and we're just trying to make it easier for them to get directly to those terms," the spokesman told Reuters.
The largely green and white BP.com website has a large red button at its centre highlighting the "Gulf of Mexico Response." The right hand side of the response site has a list of buttons advertising information on claims.
BP is trying to control oil spewing from a ruptured well on the seabed in the Gulf of Mexico by using a containment cap.

To-date what has been spilled in the Mexican Gulf is more than four times that of the Exxon Valdez.

No end to spill which is expected to continue till Sept.

Besides Louisiana, oil has reached the shores of Alabama, Mississippi & Florida.

By year end, oil spill will reach the East Coast.

Clean-up and compensations will cost BP over US$130b and BP may face bankruptcy!

The disaster has caused nearly 200,000 people in Louisiana being unemployed.

US names 13 countries, plus UN which have offered oil aid


The United States said Thursday it had received offers of aid to clean up the Gulf of Mexico oil spill from Canada and Mexico, 10 European countries, South Korea and the United Nations.

The US State Department said there was no immediate need for the assistance offered but that the US Coast Guard was trying to evaluate whether there would be in the future.

"These offers include experts in various aspects of oil spill impacts, research and technical expertise, booms, chemical oil dispersants, oil pumps, skimmers, and wildlife treatment," the State Department said in a statement.

The State Department announced Tuesday it had received aid offers from 12 countries and international organizations but refused to identify them, saying it would only name the countries when and if it accepted aid from them.

But in a switch, the State Department identified 13 countries and one organization which had offered to provide aid.

They are: Britain, Canada, Croatia, France, Germany, Ireland, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, Romania, South Korea, Spain, Sweden and the United Nations.

The State Department said Washington was grateful for the offers of assistance.

"The US Coast Guard, the lead US agency in this response, continues to monitor developments and evaluate specific needs, and is currently reviewing offers of assistance," it said.

"While there is no need right now that the US cannot meet, the US Coast Guard is assessing these offers of assistance to see if there will be something which we will need in the near future," it added.

BP succeeded on Wednesday in capping the smallest of the three leaks hemorrhaging crude into the Gulf, but this did not reduce the rate the oil gushing into the sea, estimated at 5,000 barrels, or 210,000 gallons a day.
