Another unqualified person getting a professional job. Asking for trouble again. Garment cannot afford to feed so many scorers so keep inventing more posts for them. The soon to be formed junta.

No wonder Spore is having problems. Too many PAP branded managers & not enough engineers

Unfortunately, this is the problem with Singapore's SAF scholar system: once the general/admiral has done his brief stint in the military, he gets parachuted into GLCs, stat boards and even politics. George Yeo, Teo Chee Hean, Yam Ah Mee, Lui Tuck Yew, Chan Chun Sing, Chew Men Leong etc.

This will keep on happening until the SAF scholar system is revamped: superscale salary for top brass is cut, military bond period is lengthened, a moratorium that bans him from joining the public sector or politics immediately after leaving the military.

There's an unconfirmed theory that this arrangement of making generals have a brief stint in the military and then parachuting them to cushy public sector jobs was to reduce the chances of a military coup to a minimum. You do not want unhappy top military men holding military power for too long. Then again, it seems unlikely that the paper scholar-generals in Singapore are capable of bold acts such as a coup.

True. Can't imagine someone as ball-less as CCS staging a coup. Will have to go to the nearest pub and down a few drinks first.... hahahaha

In the Navy, yes, you can sail the seven seas.
In the Navy, yes, you can put your mind at ease.
In the Navy, come on now people, make a stand.
In the Navy, can't you see we need a hand.
In the Navy, come on, protect Singpore land.
In the Navy, come on and join your fellow, man.
In the Navy, come on, people, and make a stand.
In the Navy, in the Navy.
They want you! They want you! They want you as a new recruit!

Apr 2011-Dec 2011: Study for Advance English

Disovered that the Oxford Dictionery 2012 edition, contained the word "Ponding" & used that to impress the lesser mortals. Actually wanted to say, You! Pondan, little bit water, you scared & complain, but his Queen's Englisk obtained at UK Imperial college & 'study for advance English, for such a high calibre person, just cannot use it.

So, Gentlemen!, when I say, Ponding it is ponding, what flood?, you want me to call in Noah?:D

Those u stated are general or rear admiral level.
Don't forget Lim Hng Kiang and Zorro were also colonels from the saf.
And there are more like Tan chuan jin, Bey soo khiang, etc etc.

One thing I would like to ask. All these are saf scholars or at least high ranking saf guys.
Are there any high ranking police scholars or policemen who went into the cabinet or to high positions in glcs?

If I'm not mistaken, Whampoa MP Heng Chee How and Education Minister Heng Swee Keat are Police scholars... maybe Bro Golden Dragon can comfirm on this..

Famous quote: Where do you want to have your water? In a pond, in a flood or in Singapore river?

All cho boh lans.

Despite the title and so many posts, still no one has mentioned who is the powerbroker behind Navy ascendency. There are 3 in cabinet already. You guys will have to undergo political re-education in PA.

NAVY = Never Always Volunteer Yourselves.

Don't expect Lui and Chew to clean any shits. That's what they learnt in the NAVY.

Thanks GD.
Heng Chee How is a MOS isn't he?
Leo and Aubeck still in the police, so possibly may see them in future.

What about any police scholars or high ranking policemen in GLCs or other corporate?
Seems that the saf dominates in terms of these type of "high fliers".
