Nice bro. It's avail in the NLB.

Can also include Edwin Lee's Unexpected nation, Chin Peng's My side of history, Kevin's David Marshall, also Comet In the Sky -lim Chin Siong in history ed by Tan Jin Quee & Jomo. My 2 cents worth.

Know how I can get a copy of Francis Seow's To catch a tartar, and Media Enthralled? They're banned here I'm not surprised.

Yes, all those listed are must reads.

Also read Gerald de Cruz's book " Memoirs of a Singapore Maverick". The only book which I consider to be truly frank. His daughter is Judge Judith Prakash. His wife was David Marshall's long time serving private secretary. Also available in NLB.

I ordered "To Catch a Tartar" from Harvard University Press.
A friend lent me his "Media Enthralled."

I know of friends who reside in SG, who have those 2 books. I speculate that there are many who bought it while in Malaysia or overseas. Perhaps, you may ask your friends whether or not they have one or two of those books.

Tks, bro. I saw they're avail on amazon and ebay, and in some selected U.S. bookstores.

Best bet is still probably online order from ebay or amazon.

Can still bugger NLB's Varaprasad by recommending a purchase. Interesting to see his reaction.

Actually, thanks to this thread, visited NLB after quite a long while.

Surprisingly, there are some new & some nice books:-

(1) Paths NOT taken - Political pluralism in post-was Spore (Michael Barr) as intro by Scroo

(2) Spore - A Biography Published by National Museum pub 2009 (very new, smell very nice, nice old nostalgic photos)

(3) Scripting Singapore's History (by 2 NUS History lecturers) - very cute treat Spore History like Catholic Liturgy - New testament being LKY's Memoirs with Sermons by Raja & Devan Nair - explains why the script & truth may differ

(4) Struck by Lightning Spore Voices Post-1965 (2006) by young journalists etc

(5) 700 years of Singapore History - looks like new sec school hsitory text book - very readable, lots of pre-1819 story, reader-friendly layout....

Free read for fun or insomnia, also can read to sleep

My copies of The Singapore Story and From Third World To First (Memoirs Of Lee Kuan Yew) sit snuggly on my bookshelf, whereas those of To Catch A Tartar (Francis Seow) and Dare To Change (Chee Soon Juan) had been passed around till irrecoverably lost in passing around as what usually happens to passing around.
