Bogus doc who delivered babies held
KLANG: A former military medical assistant with only a diploma in medicine was arrested recently following a police report from a worker he had molested her. Despite having only tertiary studies in the field, the 41-year-old father of nine claimed to have successfully delivered nine babies at his clinic since 2008.
However, his attempt to deliver his 10th baby was stopped by police when they entered the premises on receiving the report in mid-November. According to North Klang OCPD Supt Shukor Sulong, the man had also pretended to be a doctor in Rawang and Batang Berjuntai.
Supt Shukor said initial investigation was on molestation but police were surprised when a background check revealed the man did not have proper medical qualification. “We only found out he was bogus after we did a background check on him,” he said yesterday. Supt Shukor said the man had worked in an army camp from 1988 to 2006 before opening a maternity clinic here two years ago.
“His hometown is in Seremban and he came here to find a living but resorted to this for some reason,” he added. In another case, Supt Shukor said police arrested two men after raiding a house in Klang Utama. They seized a pistol with 11 bullets, 1.72g of syabu and tools that wereused to make drugs.
“We acted on a tip-off from the public that their neighbour was in possession of the weapon,” he said. Supt Shukor said one of the men arrested had lived with his girlfriend in her house and the suspect’s urine tested positive for drugs.
