AfreecaTV BJ was discovered in Cambodia.
According to Cambodian news reports first published on June 10 local time, a woman's body was discovered in a pond in Phnom Penh. The body, which was found on June 6, was wrapped in a blanket at the time.
The body was identified first as a Korean woman in her 30s, and as a result of a local police investigation, it was revealed that she was
BJ Ahyeong, an AfreecaTV influencer with more than 250,000 followers on Instagram. She reportedly was visiting Cambodia with an acquaintance for tourism purposes.
The local police arrested a Chinese couple who run a local hospital on charges of abandoning BJ Ahyeong's body. According to the suspects, she died at the hospital on June 4 due to a seizure incurred while receiving treatment. However, the exact cause of death is yet to be confirmed.
Korean police have requested a thorough investigation from the local investigative authorities, and are investigating acquaintances as well as hospital officials along with the autopsy procedure. The investigation is underway with the possibility of murder in mind while identifying fingerprints on the blanket she was wrapped in.
Meanwhile, BJ Ahyeong had previously announced the suspension of her BJ activities through social media in March. Her last public post expressed her want to work hard and live well in Korea.
