Bishan Bazaar Failed

Not a surprise it failed. Those sitting in the planning committee are too idealistic and not realistic. Now we know what kind of qualities we have in govt sector or those in related sectors and they have the cheeks to compare themselves to the World's best. They cannot even survived a small storm in the commercial world. All of them are not tested and only look good on paper with no experiences.

It is actually a pretty brainless idea.

If you put 300 stalls in one location, everyone sell the same CNY merchandise / food, how are you going to survive? The smart PRCs must have foreseen this and avoided this sinking ship!

And it is also quite suspicious that a newly established 2 months old company by the organizer can actually hook up this project in the first place.

.if it was Hougang Constitunecy, they will trumpet this failure, so loud that, even the deaf can hear...

Ehh Whats that ? didn't hear you :)

I visited Junction 8 & can say that I'm not surprise the bazaar was a failure. It was located outside usual popular walkways. The only people who walk around there are IT students.

If those greedy organisers had decided to hold the event in the smaller field next to the library/small coffee shop they would have had more traffic.

For those who lost money, they should have done their homework. Those stalls frequently set up around the MRT stations haven't been doing well. Many of the stalls have remained empty.

This local business man organiser deserves it. He was too trusting of PRCs who eventually stood him up. .....

If it was so good, NTUC, GRC members,... sure set up their own stalls, As usual the lesser mortals are stuck holding the bag. When will they ever learn

read the 1st post..

it was supposed to be 300 stalls.. in the end only have 20+ stalls..

No CNY cheer at Bishan bazaar

The Straits Times

BIG plans for a huge Chinese New Year bazaar in Bishan have gone awry, with only half the stalls occupied and stallholders clashing with the organiser over the lack of customers.

The fair, in a field next to the Bishan bus interchange, was supposed to have between 500 and 600 stalls selling decorations, clothes and food.

But only 300 stalls are open. A large section that was supposed to feature stalls selling food and products from the north-eastern Chinese region of Dongbei also stands empty in the middle of the bazaar. The organiser claimed that most of the Chinese merchants who had signed up to come had not received their work permits yet.

It was supposed to be 500 to 600 stalls altogether, but only about 300 taken up, the rest kena played out. Finally, think only a handful beyond the 2nd day.

I saw the humogous tentages next to Bishan Bus Interchange. WOW .

Don't we all know that?:D:D

I would have thought a fair/bazaar of this size requires zhenhu permission before it can even get off the ground. Is the RC involved or not?

As far as I know, all Pasar Malams have to rent the space from the RCs. Anyone has contrary information?
