SINGAPORE: Beleaguered stallholders of the Bishan Lunar New Year Bazaar said they plan to take legal action against the organiser, following the poor turnout of customers.

What had been promised to be an exciting array of 300 stalls has now been reduced to 20.

Some stallholders who left, claim the organiser had promised Deputy Prime Minister Wong Kan Seng as the guest-of-honour, but his attendance did not fall through.

An ex-stallholder said he only managed to sell about five per cent of his goods.

But they're not the only ones appearing on the losing end. The organiser claims to have suffered losses of up to S$1 million. - CNA/vm

Sue organiser for never do enough marketing and promo? Can organiser garantee the turnout? I guess the organiser company will just declare bankrupt and close shop. The owners will walk away unscathed and organise another event. Stallholders lan lan.

PRC buggers sure had the foresight to jump out of the ship before it sank

This 4 eye idiot is afraid someone set fire to him because if he turn up .
It's him who sanctioned the setup of makeshift tents to compete with heartland shops .

Chiam See Tong's Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC team is getting more issues to talk about:

- Ministerial accountability - Wong Kan Seng (Home Affairs) - Mas Selamat Kastari escape
- Ministerial policy - Ng Eng Hen (ex-Manpower, now Education) - Foreign workers, education system and products
- Municipal management - Bishan LNY pasar malam failure

... Some stallholders who left, claim the organiser had promised Deputy Prime Minister Wong Kan Seng as the guest-of-honour, but his attendance did not fall through. ...

Probably the RC dogs promised the organizers that Shortie is going to be GOH.

This local business man organiser deserves it. He was too trusting of PRCs who eventually stood him up. If he has considered renting all his stalls to locals, he wouldn't have ended up in this pathetic state. Unfortunately almost half his stalls were reserved for foreigners to think they helped him bring in business. My foot!!! I hope such incident serves as lessons to all local businessmen that foreigners can do whatever they wish for self-interest only, relying on them is just the beginning of death. I am not sure how this businessman is going to bury himself now.

brame ze world's bestest paid politicians ...

wat painful n shameful lessons dey learn fr prc in their suzhou debacle, dey selfishly kept 2 demselves ... dey shud b generous enuff 2 share their experiences so dat peasants can learn fr dem ... but, bcos of their selfishness n big ego, peasants hv 2 learn evryting ze hard way ...

Actually this is very odd. U mean those PRC buggers didn't pay a non-refundable deposit to book stalls?

From what I read in the papers, is because the PRC stallholders couldn't get the visa to come here. Not because they want to sabo the organiser.
No?

Maybe they did, it was to a bank account in somebody mistress name in China....

How much did the RC earn?..if it was Hougang Constitunecy, they will trumpet this failure, so loud that, even the deaf can hear...

Read somewhere that the organiser's company was set up 2 months ago ??

Also it was supposed to be 500-600 stalls too right ? It was supposed to be mother-of-all-mothers-eventand pout-shine Chinatown's bazaar too.

Is the organizer, related, connected or part of any of the Resident's Commitee people?

Under which Bishan RC zone ???
