The bust comes after police received information on Thursday that a Singaporean courier involved in a West African drug syndicate would be arranging a drug run. CNB officers spotted the courier, a 27-year-old woman, meeting her associate at about 11pm on Thursday and trailed them to a budget hotel in Geylang.
The pair were arrested while trying to check in at an airline counter at the Changi Budget Terminal the following morning. A piece of luggage, which the associate, a 29-year-old man, attempted to check in, was searched at the airport. A rectangular package wrapped in aluminium foil containing 1.14kg of heroin was recovered from the bag.
