CROPPED tops. Sandy beaches. Girls with tanned bodies. Beach volleyball tends to be the attraction on Sentosa's sandy shores.

But come March 8, beach netball will attempt to steal the limelight from their better-known and more popular cousin.

The Contiki Beach Netball Festival will be the first time a beach netball tournament is held in Singapore.

The event is a collaboration between Netball Singapore and Contiki Holidays, with both sides hoping to create a higher profile for themselves among the young working adults.

At a press event held at Sentosa's Palawan Beach on Wednesday, Cyrus Medora, executive director of Netball Singapore, said: 'We want to make netball appear more hip and trendy - a little more adventurous.'
