Qing Dynasty was the world no. 1 economy for 200 years and no. 2 economy country was not even near China GDP and it wasn't a threat to Qing.

To say that Qing emperor shunned BE industrial products was not true. Chinese are materialistic wealthy people and would try anything new and exciting. They hv the money to buy anything new from the world.
