But how do we convey this message and convince them?
After the last GE, I'm casting doubt on my abilities to convince the fence sitters.

Not valuable to you and me. But valuable to HDB prices in BB. Why say no to more money?
I was looking along the lines of PEBE when Palmer left some skid marks. Bro, David left some skid marks too, didn't he?
Looking at the bigger picture, what's the true value of electing another PAP MP?
Most people are regarding the BE as a forgone conclusion. The question seems to be whether CSJ can garner close to 35% or struggle with the 30% mark. It would seem quite a few politically savvy observers are leaning toward the latter.
The question in my opinion is not what CSJ can do to give the PAP a bloody nose, but improve his image at a national level (beyond BB) and conduct a campaign that looks beyond this BE towards GE 2020. This is a chance for his to position himself and his party favourably in preparation for the next GE which is really where the big game can be caught.
On the top topic of porky barrel politics, i feel he should take the issue head on and ask the key questions about how the PAP is using taxpayer money and how the PAP has co-opted the grassroots to serve partisan interests. He should not be seen to be afraid to take on this issue even though it is delicate.
If CSJ can show he is conversant on both national level and local level issues and can tackle delicate matters with finesse, it would go a long way to rehabilitate his image.
He should shed his activist persona once and for all and let people know he is firmly on the side of electoral politics and Singaporean concerns.
Waste of time to repair his negative image. To simply put it, it a tactical mistake to even make a controversy person like csj a candidate. He will be busy correcting peoples' perception of him instead of going on an offensive. With Lina Chaim latest rebuke on csj, the ball is really in pap court on whether to make this BE a referendum on csj.
Such thing won't happen if PT is the candidate.

Maybe you're right, folks from Potong Pasir of the yesteryear had the moral fiber to say "no" to more money. Currently it's us, the Aljunied folks.
i respectingly disagree with Aljunied folks having the moral fibre to say no to papigs.
Pork barrel politics is all about capitalizing on instant gratification. People will tend to go after benefits they can see or visualize than the long term good. Things like checks and balances, building an alternative team are just too abstract compare to physical infrastructures.
