Former Chelsea attacker Gianfranco Zola has revealed that he would like to take charge of the Premier League giants at some point in the future.
The 45-year-old wore the Chelsea jersey from 1996 until 2003 and is keen to return to Stamford Bridge when the time is right.
Chelsea recently parted company with Andre Villas-Boas as their manager, and are currently being led by caretaker boss Roberto Di Matteo.
They have yet to appoint a permanent replacement for Villas-Boas, but Zola believes this is not the right moment to take the reins.
"I would love to coach Chelsea, but the conditions are not right at this point," Zola was quoted as saying by La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"I have received a number of offers, but it all depends on whether I believe in the project."
The former West Ham United boss has also been linked with the position of head coach at Lazio and Melbourne Victory in the past few weeks.

Chinese big spenders Shanghai Shenhua are set to hold a press conference on Thursday where Nicolas Anelka is expected to be named as part of the club's newlook coaching staff according to Sina Sports.
Earlier this week there was speculation on head coach Jean Tigana's future at the club, while it was later revealed three French assistant coaches, brought to Shanghai but the former Fulham and Bordeaux boss, would be moved on as their methods were reportedly not working with the players.
Shenhua owner Zhu Jun told Shanghai based newspaper Xinmin Evening News: "The main reason for changing the assistant coaches is to strengthen the team's daily training."
And now the club is set to announce a newlook coaching panel with 32-year-old former Chelsea striker Anelka expected to take on a more senior role under Tigana.
Shenhua are currently 11th in China's Super League, having claimed just five points from five games this term.
According to Sina Sports, alongside Anelka, Shenhua will announce assistant coaches including former Tottenham keeper Ian Walker.

A Manchester United fans group have demanded cheaper season-ticket prices from next season.
They believe that the club have not invested appropriately in the playing squad and that this lack of outlay should be reflected in more affordable admission.
The chief executive of Manchester United Supporters Trust, Duncan Drasdo, told theManchester Evening News: "We are throwing down a challenge to [joint chairman] Joel Glazer to cut United fans' season-ticket prices next season."
Given the lack of squad investment while huge revenues are coming in and the Glazers' constantly dipping into the club's bank account, it is long overdue that the loyal supporters received a cut in their ticket prices."
Drasdo believes that United's investment in the playing squad, much lower than many of their league rivals, does not tally with the amount of money that the club has spent in recent years.
"The Glazers have been responsible for more than £500 million flowing out of Manchester United in fees, charges and other payments relating to their hostile takeover of our club," he claimed.
"Meanwhile the club has actually spent less in net transfer fees than not only our main rivals in Europe and the Premier League [Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham] but also had a lower net spend since 2006 than Aston Villa, Sunderland and Stoke.
"It's worse than that, though - in the last three years United's net transfer spend has been less than Hull, Blackpool and Burnley.
"Only the incredible efforts of Sir Alex Ferguson have allowed us to remain competitive in the Premier League," Drasdo continued.
"At times it feels like he is dragging the team towards a 20th league title by sheer willpower alone.
"However, even Sir Alex's magical touch couldn't bridge that gap in Europe.
"Despite his incredible feats it comes as a huge slap in the face for fans that for all the immense revenues flowing into the club there have been huge ticket price hikes for loyal fans since the Glazers' 2005 takeover."

Liverpool have parted company with their director of football Damien Comolli by "mutual consent".
The decision coincides with a wretched run of Premier League form which has seen Kenny Dalglish's side fall way off the Champions League qualification pace, while the majority of signings who arrived at the club under Comolli's watch have failed to make significant impacts.
The Frenchman, who joined the club in November 2010 to work alongside Roy Hodgson, claimed his sudden departure, which was announced just two days before the FA Cup semi-final against Everton, was due to family reasons.
"I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to work at Liverpool and am happy to move on from the Club and back to France for family reasons," he said. "I wish the club all the best for the future."
The Frenchman, previously employed in a similar role by Tottenham, oversaw a costly overhaul of the squad following Fenway Sports Group's takeover, with the likes of Luis Suarez, Andy Carroll, Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam and Stewart Downing signed for a combined total of over £100 million.
Despite those additions, Liverpool have slipped to eighth place in the Premier League table after a reasonable start to the season, and sit below Merseyside rivals Everton. The Reds did, however, win the League Cup by beating Cardiff City at Wembley in March, thereby ending a six-year wait for silverware.
Manager Kenny Dalglish said: "He's [Damien's] been really helpful in every transfer target we've gone for. Everyone who has come into the club since Damien has been here was of my choice.
"Once I made the choice who I wanted he went away and did a fantastic job of bringing them in. It's sad to see anyone leave the club and he goes with my best wishes."
Owner John W Henry, who has demanded Dalglish provide a written report into the reasons behind Liverpool's failure to secure a top four place, added: "We are grateful for all of Damien's efforts on behalf of Liverpool and wish him all the best for the future."

Blue is still the colour, football is the game but gold has entered the party as Chelsea unveil their look for next season.
The west London club have given a traditional Chelsea look a modern twist as a golden trim covers the badge and the famous three stripes of adidas.
We are pretty sure there is plenty to read into the absentee list of the photo shoot. For example - no Didier Drogba, Florent Malouda, Jose Bosingwa (and that fashionable monobrow) or John Obi Mikel. So, doing our duty, that means they are all off in the summer.
But, surprisingly, goal-shy 'striker' Fernando Torres featured heavily in the modelling session. Does that mean he is staying? Probably. How is that for an exclusive?
"Shoot? What does that mean?
Goalkeeper Petr Cech said of his new green kit: "It's a traditional green and you can remember Peter Bonetti playing in it from previous years.
"I like the colour, I like the shirt and the touch of gold makes it more fresh."
Ok. Meanwhile Daniel Sturridge banged the drum for a trophy-laden future: "I love it, it suits the way we play and with the gold hopefully we'll be able to bring some success."
Branislav Ivanovic seemed the most chatty of the group but did not feature particularly heavily in the photos as he turned up with a split lip!
He said: "It's very hard but the photographers and everyone work hard for us to relax in front of the camera.
"The camera has to love you."
Spoken like a true pro.
His defensive partner Gary Cahill was distinctly unimpressed with one aspect of the day. This never would have happened in Bolton!
He added: "I'm meant to be a tough centre-back and I'm getting makeup."

Frank Lampard saw his £12,000 bid for a Fiat 500 Jose Mourinho won at auction one year ago fail as Alex McLeish trumped the Chelsea midfielder at a charity dinner for Nordoff Robbins.
The 'Football Extravaganza' dinner, held at the Grosvenor Hotel on Park Lane in Mayfair, attracted a host of well known footballers from past and present as they celebrated 20 years of the Premier League.
Since the inaugural event in 1996, 'Football Extravaganza' has helped raise £4 million for Nordoff Robbins and McLeish's £15,000 winning bid contributed to another successful evening.
We say successful ... perhaps not for Geoff Shreeves - the compere for the evening - who joked that buying Mourinho's car would be the only way Lampard would make it into his team. Cue the awkward silence and a grovelling apology from Shreeves. Oh well.

The top lot of the evening was a commemorative book containing signatures and messages from the top 20 icons of Premier League history.
Messages ranged from anglophile Eric Cantona's "Amazing how quick time passes in this country of life," to Tony Adams' simple "Up the Gunners!"
Lampard, Alan Shearer and Matt Le Tissier also contributed, as well as the message of the night from Ryan Giggs who wrote "must do better" under his list of honours.
Nordoff Robbins is national specialist music charity, delivering music therapy to a broad range of people in a broad range of places including schools, hospitals, care homes, and prisons across the UK.
They help people with a range of challenges including autism, dementia, mental health problems, stroke, brain injury, learning difficulties, depression and, in some cases clients have a life-threatening or terminal illness, such as cancer.
A round-up of team news ahead of this weekend's Premier League fixtures.
Norwich vs Man City
Norwich will still be without defender Zak Whitbread, who has missed the last two matches with a calf problem, but Kyle Naughton returns after being ineligible for Monday's shock victory at parent club Tottenham. Marc Tierney (groin) and Daniel Ayala (knee) were today ruled out for the rest of the season, but James Vaughan (hamstring) could have a reserve run-out next week.
Manchester City hope to have midfielder Yaya Toure available, with the Ivory Coast international facing a fitness test after missing the midweek win over West Brom with a knee injury. Controversial striker Mario Balotelli is again missing as he serves the second game of a three-match suspension.
Sunderland vs Wolves
Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill is hoping for a significant fitness boost as central defender John O'Shea (calf) and strikers Nicklas Bendtner (back and hamstring) and Fraizer Campbell (knee), who all missed Monday's 4-0 defeat at Everton, could return. Full-back Phil Bardsley (groin) and midfielder Lee Cattermole (knee) are doubts.
Wolves' on-loan Tottenham defender Sebastien Bassong will be unavailable through suspension after his red card against Arsenal. Christophe Berra is likely to deputise if he recovers from an ankle knock. Interim manager Terry Connor will assess the fitness of midfielder Dave Edwards (hamstring) before finalising his line-up.
Swansea vs Blackburn
Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers could choose to make changes following the disappointing 3-0 midweek defeat at QPR. Left-back Neil Taylor and winger Wayne Routledge were withdrawn at half-time at Loftus Road and their replacements Alan Tate and Nathan Dyer may be in line for starts against Rovers. Midfielder Kemy Agustien (ankle) is the Swans' only injury absentee.
Blackburn have doubts over defenders Bradley Orr (Achilles) and Martin Olsson (groin), but boss Steve Kean is optimistic both will be fit. Striker Anthony Modeste will definitely be available after seeing his three-match ban for a red card against West Brom reduced to one match, which he served during Tuesday's defeat by Liverpool.
West Brom vs QPR
West Brom skipper Chris Brunt and left-back Liam Ridgewell are both expected to be fit after minor knee problems, while strikers Marc-Antoine Fortune and Peter Odemwingie will come back into contention to start. Midfielders Zoltan Gera and James Morrison (both knee) and right-back Steven Reid (foot) remain on the injury list.
Manager Mark Hughes has injury concerns over strikers Jamie Mackie, who scored in his side's 3-0 win over Swansea in midweek, and Bobby Zamora. Djibril Cisse is also out, serving the final game of his four-match ban, but Shaun Derry will return in midfield having served his one-match suspension.
Man Utd vs Aston Villa
Sir Alex Ferguson intends to recall Paul Scholes to his starting line-up after he was rested for Wednesday's defeat at Wigan. Ferguson reports no fresh injury concerns from the DW Stadium setback, which saw United's lead at the top cut to five points.
Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish will check on the fitness of Chris Herd (head) and Stephen Warnock (ankle), with Charles N'Zogbia and Gary Gardner in contention to replace the duo. Midfielder Fabian Delph has returned to training after his ankle injury suffered when on loan at Leeds, while winger Marc Albrighton is battling to overcome a thigh problem.
Arsenal vs Wigan
Full-back Kieran Gibbs has a 50-50 chance of returning from a groin injury and Gervinho (ankle) is also likely to be back, while midfielders Abou Diaby and Francis Coquelin (both hamstring) are set to return to the squad next week for full training. Defenders Per Mertesacker (ankle) and Laurent Koscielny (suspended) miss out.
Striker Hugo Rodallega is Wigan's only injury concern. Rodallega has not played for the Latics since March 11 due to a knee problem but is back in training and will be assessed before the trip to north London.

The last few weeks of City’s campaign have been marred with on and off the field controversies which have proven costly whereas United have been relishing squeaky bum time by going on a run of eight consecutive wins in the Premiership to pull eight points clear at the top.
The ill discipline of players such as Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli has overshadowed what had looked to be a very promising season for City and Sir Alex Ferguson has spoken out of his intolerance of misbehaviour from his players and the benefits of unity within a team.
'I wouldn’t allow it,' he told The Observer. 'There's a distinction to be made between having your say on the pitch, like Peter Schmeichel used to do when he bawled out his defenders and squaring up to each other like the two players at Wolves did at the weekend.'
'That can happen, particularly at the bottom of the league, because clubs who are struggling are under a lot of pressure and it is easy to understand players becoming frustrated.'
'But really, if you don't have unity you are not playing as a team. The demeanour of a team is important, you can judge it by the way they celebrate a goal.'
Wolves may look like a team with a one way ticket to the Championship following a run of seven consecutive defeats, but in-form midfielder Matt Jarvis has vowed to battle for every available point in the remaining five games of the season.
Wednesday’s 3-0 defeat against Arsenal has left Wolves nine points adrift at the bottom of the Premiership meaning that they could effectively be relegated by Monday if results don’t go their way, but Jarvis has insisted his side aren’t throwing in the towel just yet.
'We will carry on working extremely hard and trying to get something from each game from now to the end of the season,' said Jarvis. 'Everything seems to have gone against us in recent weeks.'
'In the last three or four games I think we’ve played well. As a team we have worked extremely hard and created chances and so many things just haven’t gone for us. But all we can do is keep going.'
Interim boss Terry Connor is without a win in the Premiership since stepping in to replace Mick McCarthy in February and Jarvis is determined to get all 3 points for TC when Wolves face Sunderland this weekend.
'We will make sure we go there in good spirits and give it another go,' Jarvis added. 'We can all see the league table but we will just keep going and giving it our best. We want to get a win for the fans and for ourselves but we also want to give TC his first Premier League win as a manager.'

The Football Association has reiterated their hope goal-line technology will be introduced in the game.
The controversial issue again came to fore on Sunday during the FA Cup semi-final clash between Chelsea and Tottenham when referee Martin Atkinson ruled that Juan Mata’s strike had crossed the line when the ball hadn’t much to the fury of Spurs players and manager Harry Redknapp.
Now, the FA have issued a plea again for the technology to be brought in to aid decision making at the highest level and will await a decision from the International Football Association (IFAB) Board in July to see if it will be introduced.
An FA statement read: "The FA has led the calls at IFAB for the introduction of Goal Line Technology for over a decade, and we reiterate our desire to see it introduced as soon as possible.
"No other single body has called as strongly for its introduction as The FA.
"The FA is not responsible for the introduction of Goal Line Technology in isolation and awaits the outcome of the next IFAB meeting on 2 July."
The organisation admitted they are ‘heartened’ to hear goal-line technology is its final test stages as they look to improve the much maligned decision making across the country.England suffered in one of the most high-profile incidents of the issue when Frank Lampard’s shot crossed the line but was ruled not to in the Three Lions game against Germany in the second round of the World Cup in 2010.
"The FA has been consistent supporters of the introduction of goal-line technology for over a decade," an FA spokesman told Sky Sports.
"We are heartened that we are now in the final stages of testing with IFAB due to take a final decision on 2 July."
