Banking Token .... Security or hassle?

its suppose to happen (someday..). check out www.onekey.sg my guess is the banks cannot agree to "live together" and IDA no balls to force them to agree. at the moment, looks like onekey only for the stock broking accounts

I just received my one key token and password. Uob kay hian still is slowing implementing this one key thing.

don't think UOB is slow, commercial firms are usually very quick to implement things. Its probably IDA/Assurity dragging their feet that is causing the slow take up rate. The civil service just have no incentive to be efficient for the public.......

Can still log into the account without using the token. Probably take days or weeks later before you need the token IDK.

Stanchart started the card token whereby the atm/debit card comes with the built in token.. very convenient..

ok i can suddenly log into my bank account without using my token.

WTF this is the very first time it has occured.

Yup..but if you need to bank transfer or access anything in there..it will ask for the six digit no

My current acc with UOB came with a token since 2002; which in my mind is a good additional security factor..

Yeah called them up and that's what i was told. Checked history and needed the token code or sms notification. At first i thought someone hacked into the bank website and disabled the security feature.

Tokens are so troublesome... So used to Internet Banking in Aus with just username and password.. went back to sg and realised Internet Banking not popular there yet.. then came up with all these SMS Token.. now followed by the big tokens you have to carry around..

Thank Heavens back in Aus now.. I reckon its the Kia-See Mentality.. :p

But honestly isn't internet fraud and credit card cheating a big issue? I mean recently a few DBS customers had their CCs cloned and they were used in malaysia even though they didn't even travel to malaysia that's why all of these security measures have shown up with micro chips in CCs and that stupid green plastic thing sticking out from atms cos some tamil tiger ppl stole money from atms. This occured some yrs back and of course the token thing being introduced to provide one more form of security.

Many people will be walking around with 3 or 4 tokens in their pocket and a bunch of keys all jingle-jangling. :D
