Serious Balls Shrinked! Ah Loong - Recession May Hit Soon

Essential services. Are you part of this type of service provider.

During our first LOCKDOWN remember ? Only essential services are allowed. Those same service providers will survive, even better.

Even the worst scenario if u’re intelligently stocked up on essential foods to supplement many of it can last easily two years….

Be prepared and many Sinkies flats are fully paid what’s the big deal ?

Only the strawberry generation with high loan condominium, cars, maid, no savings & none essential jobs need worry…..

As had always happened in the past, during recession years, the ruling party will stand to gain in the event of a general election. The electorate will want continued stability instead of a change during such troubled times.

double whammy for singaporeans. already fixed with high costs of living, we are facing 2 consecutive years of GST raise. Now, LHL, do you still have the cheek to tell us, GST increase is necessary and needed in such tough time?

where is the oppo?

Taxes for centuries & even when Civilisations began, was a way to provide funds for collective social expenditure - med, security, education, infrastructures, etc.

No matter how empathetic a kind Human can be to serve others, he/she still needs to survive - food, water, shelter, etc, as well costs related to those services - schools, hospitals, roads, etc, etc, thus a need for such funds.

However, as Humankind progress, not all have the same earning capability, no matter the political ideology, thus a fairer system of tax, to protect the middle n those whom earning power is less. Thus GST was born - One pays only for what he/she affords to help society, regardless of crisis situations as it often does not affect all .

However, sadly, biz owners simply add the GST to products, to make the consumer pay while STILL maintaining its profits.

It led to the middle classes & the poor paying more for staples - the basics such as food, water, simple shelter.

However, within Spore govt where the best & brightest are, they tried to offset such taxes to the middle class & poor thru various means - direct cash, rebates on utilities, etc, etc, to leave none behind.

Money is not everything, but without money, everything becomes nothing. Those with more can help, & those with less will be helped.

This is Singapore, a civilization like no other on planet Earth that our founding & forefathers had created for each of us with so much, so much sacrifices, a debt of honor to continue to do the same for our family, loved ones, friends & generations to come...

How much Minister got no retrenchment one huh? Knn:cautious:

Current recession maybe indirectly caused by the strawberries...many refuse to work full time despite having decent qualifications, preferring to take up gig and FL jobs...without full time jobs they live from hand to mouth are and unable to get loans to spend on capital acquisitions like houses and would rather have a yolo lifestyle and travel the world
...with less spending of course businesses will make less profits and workers will start to be retrenched and replaced...I m in the skills training industry and all I can say the young people learning skills to work in gig areas are overwhelming...also the great resignation is definitely a global phenomenon

How much Minister got no retrenchment one huh?

The fair & free elections are the best indicators of who gets the job & who does not.

Within the halls of govt, only those with proven records of abilities are chosen at all levels, & given opportunities to prove their capabilities, at all levels.

Those whom succeed in their responsibilities to Spore are promoted, but those who do not measure up are given other portfolios, a chance to prove their abilities. Such is govt service, to serve the country, to leave no one willing to serve, to be left out.

However, in the private sectors where Free Market is practised & can be brutual, those whom are deemed redundant are retrenched for company to survive.

But this is Singapore. All means will be used by MOM to prevent retrenchments or at least limit or find ways to mitigate the effects to fellow citizens, such as holding job fairs, upgrade courses, etc, to help & leave no citizen behind. This is yours & my country, our homeland, Singapore...
