there's an outlier, literally, though during the pandamic. a taco bell joint at pacifica is doing ok despite high rent, high cost, high surf, and 6.9 months into the pandamic. revenue remains stable during the lockdown with takeaways, but spikes after diners are allowed to dine outdoors and around it on the beach. it's staffing up and remains cash flow positive all this time. taco bell is not exactly a high ses gourmet restaurant. it's fast food, cheap fast food mainly for the working class and poor starving students. but its location and convenience to beachgoers and surfers keep it afloat above the high surfs. and rent is not cheap as it's on the most sexpensive part of the peninsula, on valuable frontage at the coast (only 69 feet from beach) between sf in the north and sillycon valley in the south. since indoor seating is not allowed yet, no problem. with plenty of sunshine and cool breeze from the ocean, just walk up the ramp, order food from the window, get your meals in less than 6.9 minutes, and park your sexy buttocks on a bench or balcony overlooking the beach.
