Australia restricts migration category.

That is the problem. I need more lawyers and politicians here, not people living on inheritance. It took 6 months to fix a street lamp!!!

I think I will work for the council and get free rate-payer paid holidays.

BTW, the money-face are turning parks & reserves into more housing.

Haha.. in better suburbs, you will notice the residents dictate what the Council can do or cannot do.. If Council allows medium development or give up lands for more housing.. the residents will organise a meeting to boot out the Counsellor or Mayor.. We called this a "resident unity".

Once I missed the wheelie bin collection, but I bo-chap, I placed it outside the council footpath anyway.. The council sent another trip to collect my rubbish ! I was so pleased.. heehee..

In Boroondara Council, we received excellent service.. the rates are reasonable and parks are extremely pleasing.. and it is very well maintained..

Brisbane City Council too provides a good service to me.. they mow my front lawn 6-10 times a year for free ;)

As long as your suburb is within the highly skilled professionals ie lawyers, politicians etc.. they have no choice but to lan-lan obey :D

Boroondara?

you in melbourne, mate? That would be my choice of stay in melbourne.

Cheebye, if Labour wins again in NSW I'll move to Melbourne as well. Lan Lan kick our Rudd because they think they going to lose the state election.

A bit hard to have unity when there are more than 150 nationalities in the suburbs run by Stirling which is one of the largest council in WA.

But a BIG council is good because they claim to use 1 bin recycling (you throw everything into one wheelie bin and they will pick out the recyclable stuff at the central sorting centre) and out of season collection of rubbish at the kerbside (eg when my tree surgeon removed one of my trees, no need to get a skipbin for disposal, just call the council and they will gladly pick out the logs. I think they turn the logs into mulch).

I have never liked ALP or KRudd.

We have to go back to the history of Australia founding to see the damages made by Labor, including the White Aussie policy.

NSW Labor powderful idiots like Jack Lang

And modern day ones like KRudd who spent John Howard's money which is set aside for the future.

ALP should never be allowed to govern Australia again!

Sidetrack: If KRudd has faction support, he will still be PM today.

KRudd alienated a lot of people in the party in the last 6 months or so. He was kicked out because he wasn't a good leader in knowing the sentiments of its colleagues. I think they should have just send KRUdd to china as special envoy or something. Since he likes to speak Mandarin so much. Incidentally , the PRC mei meis I talked to all say they like KRudd, including their parents and friends. Going back to china for KRudd would do Australia some good. I still believe Labour has a better social policy compared to the Liberals on the federal level. NSW state Labour has become a joke. The last good NSW premier is Bob Carr, since then its reflected by the numerous leadership changes that follows. I'll vote for Labour for federal, and Liberals for state this coming election. Labour deserves another chance at the federal level. Howard, as much as he has helped Australia, has also alienated the population in the end. The morale of the story is that, unlike Singapore, if you alienate the people around you and the country you would be kicked out. Its not perfect, but it sure is much better from where I come from.

that will eventually happen in SG

Eventually is a long time, 2 GE ago, I thought it could happen. That was when WP won a couple of seats.

KRudd is a 'L' plater when it comes to political maneuvers. It showed up when he sent the wrong people to get feeders on the mood of his party.
Usually, you will send one of your strongest allies that has big influences in the party caucus to do the job. But he sent a senior civil servant. OMG! This is a Westminster system !!!

KRudd has more success in the foreign affairs. G-20 may work, but not his vision of Asia. China experts comment many months ago that he got it right about the challenges facing Far East Asia. But, unfortunately, he made the same dodo. No feelers for his policies. The big brother of the Far East, Singapore, apparently got concerned about his moves over Asia. Fearing for its loss of authority, Singapore shot KRudd down.
Still, KRudd future lies in foreign affairs. This is one area that he excels in.
