Petrol prices expected to rise
Petrol prices are expected to rise over the next week, but are starting to near their peak, according to a leading economist.
Commonwealth Securities chief economist Craig James says that while motirists can expect to pay more for petrol in the coming week, there are signs prices are nearing their peak.
According to the latest Australian Institute of Petroleum report, the national average price of unleaded petrol rose by 1.9 cents per litre to 120.5 cents in the week to November 1. The metropolitan price rose by 2.6 cents per litre to 119.9 cents while the regional average price rose by 0.8 cents per litre to 121.9 cents.
