u obviously have not heard of "lobbying", which is common in western political system such as that in the USA, Aussie and UK, etc. Corruption is everyhwere because the world we live in is controlled by money minded assholes.

Not that simple. The Australian Labor party has a soft left and hard left factions and a Unity and Forum right factions, plus all the minor factions.

On top of subscribing to the party, members also pay another subscription to their factions.

1. The Rudd faction is not permanent. Rudd himself is a Labor Unity (right faction), his deputy is from the Labor Socialist hard-left faction. Treasurer is from Labor NSW right faction.

Julia Gillard is from the Left, but the faceless men from the Forum Right faction put her to power.

It is also this Right faction that ousted her. The press release 30 mins before the ballot sealed her fate when the factional leader switched side for political survival because his safe seat is in danger after a 7% swing against Labor.

I suspect the secret petition circulating around comes from the Right faction as well. So, the plans was hatched weeks ago to oust Gullard.

When Bill Shorten spoke of people who will never talk to him again after he switched side, he is referring to his chief backer, unionist Paul Howes, who supported Julia Gillard to the very end.

"Corruption" or factionism.

The Australian Labor Party has many factions, once you understand that, you will know why it appears like corruption.

This party realises that it is nature for like minded humans to form groups - what some people called grouphugs. It also benefits an old political party (oldest Labour party in the world) to have provision for a sharing of power between different philosophical or ideological interests within the same party.

Each faction usually has their own formal executive committee, fund raising committee, conduct their own meetings, operates their own bank account - within the ALP.

When a decision is made within a faction, usually all members of that faction are bound to abide by that decision.

Factions do deals and negotiate with each other for benefits So, it is not corruption.
