Supercar driver dies after head-on crash between his £75,000 Audi RA man has died after the £75,000 sports supercar he was driving ploughed into a bus.

Debris was strewn across the road after the white Audi R8 smashed head-on into the Arriva bus in Newcastle last night.

The 39-year-old driver was cut from the wreckage of the sports car by emergency crews, but was pronounced dead at the scene. The bus driver, 61, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

There were no passengers on the out-of-service single-decker at the time of the accident near Gosforth High Street.

Guests at nearby Gosforth Hotel returning from a pub witnessed the ‘horrendous’ crash, Gosforth Hotel staff said.

‘We’d had some customers in who had been at another pub and saw the crash. They said the driver was cut out but there was nothing the paramedics could do to save them,’ a female member of staff said.

Tony Batty, Head of Operations at Arriva said: ‘We are aware of an incident between a car and Arriva bus on Gosforth High Street.

‘The car driver was killed. Our concerns were for the bus driver and car driver’s family. The incident involved an out-of-service bus and the driver was taken to hospital.’

Northumbria Police confirmed that the accident occurred around 9pm on Sunday night when the two vehicles were travelling on the same carriageway, which resulted in a five-hour closure of the road.

A spokesperson confirmed that the 39-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene, adding that the busdriver is receiving treatment at the Royal Victoria Infirmary for minor injuries.

The Audi R8 is a two-seater sportscar which costs in excess of £75,000 when bought new and is capable of extremely high top speeds.

Any witnesses to the crash are being asked to contact Northumbria Police on non-emergency number 101.8 and a bus.

Another Ferrari case. :o

Ferrari is much safer than audi for fast car, if the chinaman in singapore wore safety belt, he would have survive.
Audi has killed many drivers who speed, like the dangerous TT version 1.

Wrecked: The remains of the Pagani Zonda William Baranos was driving. He was not thought to have been wearing a seat belt

Millionaire property developer killed at the wheel of 200mph Zonda supercar as it spins out of control and crashes into a fence

A millionaire property developer was killed when the £500,000 Italian supercar he was driving careered off the road and ploughed into a fence.

William Baranos, who was in his 50s, is believed to have been driving at high speed in a 30mph zone when he lost control of the Pagani Zonda.

The front end of the car was torn off when it hit a metal fence running along the perimeter of a building supplies depot.

His body was found 10ft away, after the car’s doors were ripped off. He was not thought to have been wearing a seat belt. A passenger in his 20s, believed to be a friend of the family, walked away from the wreckage, on a main road in Watford, with minor injuries.

Residents described hearing revving, followed by a screech then a ‘massive bang’ when the accident happened at around 6pm on Sunday.

The fence remained flat on the ground yesterday with fragments of the car’s bodywork scattered around.

The 7.3-litre engine car was one of just a few hundred made between 1999 and 2011 by Italian firm Pagani in Modena, and was capable of more than 200mph. Some models sell for up to £1.3million.

A family friend who answered the door said: ‘She is absolutely devastated. It’s a terrible thing to have happened.’ A witness said he had seen the car driving along the same road at high speed the previous day.

‘It would come up towards the roundabout at breakneck speeds and brake hard, go round the roundabout and then fly back the other way,’ he said. ‘Then [on Sunday night] it was back again but this time it screeched and we heard a massive bang. It seemed to me that the driver had been showing off.

‘The younger person who survived was the driver’s son’s best friend and he must have been showing him the car’s power.’

A local homeowner added: ‘I heard the high revving and then a massive crash.

‘I came out to see the Zonda in bits in the middle of the road.

‘The front of the car had disappeared, the doors were off and there wasn’t much of it left.

‘The car did what it was supposed to because the chassis was still intact.

‘I’m speculating but the driver must not have been wearing a seat belt because the passenger was and he was fine.’

Mr and Mrs Baranos bought their 6,000 sq ft wing of the 19th century Wall Hall Mansion ‘as a shell’ in 2009 for £2.3million, and lavished a further £400,000 on it. The property, which featured in the Mail on Sunday last year, is listed under Mrs Baranos’s name. The building once belonged to financier JP Morgan Jnr and was leased by Joseph Kennedy when he was US Ambassador to Britain at the start of the Second World War.

The sitting room has 14ft-high walls, and the dining room features original gold leaf panelling. Combined with the dining room it creates a space 50ft long.

Drivers, please remember to wear your seat belt.

the driver had risen to a higher level of existence :o:o:o

nature has its way of culling the stupid.

wealth and intelligence are obviously not linked.

Hope someone here can update us on this case.
Would like to know how his insurance company will handle it.

all insurance company will take your money every month but when you claim, they will find the smallest print in the contract not to pay you.

For sure they are no going to pay in this case, 100%.

Insurers do not have to pay if the policyholders do not tell the truth or do not abide by the rules of the contracts.
People have this false sense that just because they are insured, they are safe.

But if the insurer's sales rep has misrepresent the insured, it will be a different story. But the insured already died.

Reckless driver without seatbeat, the victims should sue the estate of the driver!

Tis guy must have been speeding, obviously can't even control a fast car.

Lucky the bus driver only had minor injuries.

I second that. LOL Fast car drivers are stupid enough to believe in themselves and not in the seat beats provided for them especially in a sudden stop or crash at high speed.
