Get Flashget for Firefox or FVD video downloader add-on for chrome

I use a downloader to help manage the download. Currently using free download manager

One question: all these downloaders actually download the videos and not just the links. Right? Anything for iPhone?

It download the videos in .flv file. Not sure iPhone have or not, but for video player, try GPlayer, it lets ou play .flv and .avi files

Just to add on this, some downloaders download without the extension, either rename them with a .flv extension or just open it with a video player like Windows Media player etc. They should be able to play it properly

For Andriod devices, there's a Youtube downloading app call Tubemate. If you cannot download it from the playstore, go download it from the internet

so which one is best leh ? so many suggestions ? blur liao leh..........

I can give you some good advice. No need to be blur by so many suggestions.

Most of the advice given by the rest are workable but it depends on what you want...

You mention you need a YT downloader that can download multiple videos.

Most of the advice given so far are browser dependent and can download one YT video one at a time only.

So, it will not fulfill your need.

Besides, you also may like to download from other sites beside YT, hence all the advice given thus far cannot do that, except downloadhelper for FF, which is an FF addon and hence browser dependent.

I've used all the examples given, tested all of them and even more.

If purely for single YT video and browser independent, use the advice given by one of the bros: www.savevid.com
(You need java applet)

If it's for multiple videos (YT and other sites), then I recommend this:

http://atube-catcher.dsnetwb.com/video/

It also has burning into DVD, CD features, etc.

NOTE:
When installing the software, remember to untick all other installs, including the Ask browser helper, which is very difficult to remove if you accidentally installed it.

If you're looking to download RTMP streaming videos, then it's a different solution altogether. If it's for Hulu movies download or NBC copyrighted videos, again it's also another solution that requires some technical tweaking and other software. If interested, then I write about these solutions.

Wow! You are indeed the expert. I wish I had such knowledge as I can barely get by in this brave new IT world. :o

The IT world is changing very fast and it can be overwhelming. But there is always google. Google is your friend. :D

It's a brave frontier out there for us to conquer. Never allow your age and lack of technical knowledge stop you, my friend.

Thanks for the advice and for shoring-up my confidence. A friend did tell me that most IT-related things can be understood and learnt through viewing various YouTube videos. I found this to be a mixed message. Definitely some things can be easily appropriated through viewing YT clips, but not others. The way IT is evolving so rapidly many of the solutions in these YT videos are obsolete before a calendar year has ended.

If you've any specific IT queries, just search google first. You need to understand how to use Google Operators for your search to be targeted and more precise. But at the end of the day, if no one hosts that knowledge on the web, google cannot find it for you. Google search is just a curator of web info.

Google advanced Search Operators: http://www.googleguide.com/advanced_operators.html

Anyhow, if you're in doubt about how to get around IT, you can ask here and someone may be able to help. If I know, I'll also chip in and if provided I notice the post.

Thanks. I will do that. Maybe I should make being IT savvy my new year's resolution.
