Drop in HDB home loan arrears

DESPITE the recession, the number of HDB home loan arrears fell from 33,670 in September last year to 30,770 during the same month this year.

Info from HDB Annual Report 2008/09:

The Mortgage financing segment reported a deficit of $18 million this year, as compared with a surplus of $37 million last year.
The change from a surplus last year to a deficit this year was mainly due to the increase in allowances for impairment losses
made in respect of non-performing mortgage loans.
