<!-- end left side bar --> <!-- story content : start --> A BUSINESSMAN whose two Rottweilers bit a man at Toh Tuck Road was fined $3,000 on Tuesday. Wu Wai Hong, 61, admitted that his dogs caused injury to Mr Seah Jeng Jye, 42, on his left shin on Oct 10 last year. Mr Seah was finishing his morning exercise and was walking back to his condominium off Jalan Jurong Kechil that morning when he was attacked by Wu's two unattended Rottweilers. He had three scratches on his left shin region. The attack only stopped after the victim managed to climb onto a nearby ledge. The prosecution said that Wu had compensated Mr Sim $1,600, and $5,000 to a second victim, along with an apology. A second charge was taken into consideration during his sentencing. He could have been fined up to $5,000 under the Miscellaneous Offences (Public Order and Nuisance) Act.

SINGAPORE: A businessman, whose two Rottweiler dogs bit two people in Toh Tuck within five months, has been fined S$3,000.

Wu Wai Hong, 61, pleaded guilty to a charge of letting his dog cause injury to someone else, and another similar charge was taken into consideration during sentencing.

The court heard that on the evening of Oct 10 last year, the first victim, Seah Jeng Jye, was walking to his condominium when Wu's two dogs set upon him for no reason.

The attack only stopped after Mr Seah climbed onto a nearby ledge.

He suffered scratches on his left shin.

The court was told that Wu paid Mr Seah S$1,600 as compensation, while the second victim, Puvanesvary Alahakone, 49, was paid S$5,000.

She had been bitten on her left upper thigh by the dogs five months after Mr Seah's attack.

Wu had faced a fine of up to S$5,000 on each charge and could be ordered to pay compensation of up to S$2,000 to each injured party.

There have been at least 65 dog attacks this year compared to 50 in 2006. - TODAY/vm

A DOG owner was fined $3,000 yesterday after his two pet rottweilers bit a man on the shin more than a year ago.

Businessman Wu Wai Hong, 61, had compensated the victim, Mr Seah Jeng Jye, $1,600 and apologised. He had also apologised and compensated another victim, Madam Puvanesvary Alahakone, 49, with $5,000 after she was bitten on her left thigh in March this year.
Wu could have been fined up to $5,000. He said he was not present when his dogs bit the victims.
He said his house was under renovation then and his 83-year-old aunt had let the dogs out of a cage to feed them when they ran out of the compound.
In the second incident, Wu said Madam Puvanesvary had been walking her doberman when his dogs bit her.
