Annual Working Clothes Budget

With regards to office clothes which you wear daily. Washing and drying clothes in the sun eventually wears down the cloth - the color fades, you get holes, and some areas like the collar get worn out.

so eventually you have to buy new work clothes.

How do you guys budget or plan your working wardrobe?

1) do you just buy a whole lot during Chinese New Year / Great Singapore Sale?

2) do you change only when your clothes have holes? or do you replace the whole wardrobe annually?

3) what is your budget?

personally if I find a shirt comfortable and well cut, I will just buy 5 to 10 pcs in different colors and wear them, instead of shopping around

And I generally wear my clothes till the color fades - this seems to be the first thing to happen

my budget is $50 to $100 for shirts, and pants $100 to $150 - with the hope that the clothes can last at least 1 yr

should be interesting to find out more about our dressing habits

When there is a sale, I buy more of course

I change immediately when the color fades. I will also change even if colors do not fade to make room for new clothes or when the style is out of fashion.

3) what is your budget?

Overall, $800 - $1000 per year

I bought 4 pants one shot from a tailor and had been using them alternatively for the past year. I dun intend to buy pants in the near future.

I bot shirts more regularly but usually only during sales.

If you really want to let your shirts last longer, just hand wash them. Washing machines are more rough and tend to let the colours fade. Also dry indoors and not let the sun affect the colour.

cheers
