Edit
According to a posting on TOC Facebook at around 8pm, riot police were seen dispersing the crowd in Potong Pasir which at gathered at Block 108 to sign a petition calling for a by-election:
揊rom TOC Facebook page:
It seems riot police are dispersing the crowd in Potong Pasir and have confiscated the petition. TOC will investigate and bring you the updates.?/P> TOC claimed that the petition has been confiscated by the police and that they had people on the ground to take photos. The police has earlier issued a warning in the afternoon that they will arrest the petition-signers on the grounds of 搃llegal assembly?
Though the organizers have announced on Facebook that they have called off the petition drive, it appeared that some residents were unaware and still turned up to sign the petition.
According to a reader Candy Yeap, her husband called and told her 揳t 6+ that he saw the red cars and police at the Potong Pasir area just now when he抯 on his way back home.?/P> However, other Potong Pasir residents claimed that they did not notice any heavy security presence in the area. As of 8.45pm, there was still some police officers present at the scene and some residents had their NRIC numbers taken down.
What TR has confirmed is that the police did visit Potong Pasir to warn the residents signing the petition to disperse or face arrest. For some strange reasons, TOC has since removed the post on its Facebook.
