So true. I am cautiously optimistic about the odds of WP prevailing in Aljunied--provided things do not get dirty and slimy on the part of PAP.

Aljunied grc is the best hope in my opinion. The opposition teams in the other grcs don't look that strong, would have thought that they would target Moulmen-Kallang and Choa Chu Kang.
Waiting to see when the pappies send in their reinforcements, suspect very soon.

I am finding all these very surreal. I really do not believe what I am reading. Surely Georgie Boy is not serious about his comments? He must be off his rockers.

That was then; but now the mood is far diff and ground is less sweet (even the PAP grandmaster thinks so) and pple are prepared I think to take a gamble. The not-in-my-backyard syndrome no longer applies because the issues boiling over now - housing, FTs, MRT crushes, inflation, etc - are not just matters for the local MP in the constituency. They are more national in nature, and indeed, the WP's "co-driver" imagery - to slap the driver - will appeal to voters.

I certainly hope there is a breakthrough this time, not only at Aljunied, but also at Hougang, PP and Bishan.

This is a bit more than the roles reversed, actually I think LTK & CST both are able to use the GRC effects to tag in Hougang & Potong Pasir, giving assurance to voters that town council etc will still be managed in the same ways, regardless of the MP, so they can vote for Mrs Chiam & Mr. Yaw no difference.

LTK would have stayed in Hougang and would win. Sylvia might have taken on LHH and won. But in my opinion, Georgie would have defeated CSM in a close straight fight. That's why it so ironical. The pappies have been "piggybacking" for years, the opposition have been complaining. Now the roles are reversed, particularly in this grc.

George Yeo is not as intelligent and philosophical as he's marketed to be. In 2006, he already panicked like a kid seeing a cockroach. He called for James Gomez withdrawal from the WP Aljunied team and continue contesting. Obviously, he's clueless about constitution, nomination and election laws that he has no power to call for such thing. I believe then he got fucked seriously by LKY, and LKY himself had to come out and bang JG as liar himself to save GY campaign.

Well, he was a career soldier and then became a politician. Just like many of his colleagues and future colleagues, their experience in other aspects of professional and business life is limited despite being well educated in top schools.
But in my view, he is more intelligent than most of his colleagues. Don't forget he was a president's scholar who went to Cambridge and Harvard. He definitely has more general knowledge than many of his colleagues, some of whom make me cringe when they talk about things outside of political babbleshit.

Of course, if some old fogey claims that he is extraordinarily brilliant and indispensable, that's just nonsense.
