there will be those that are easily manipulated - either by greed, power or being plain ignorant (sometimes all three in a wholesome pkg) as in cases of ah pek's / ah soh's being conned to claim a prize, koteks paying for luxury goods that never see the light of day or by the nigerians etc.
to be able to screw with people's minds and skew his/her views behind a moniker speaks volumes of that person's gravitas; a powerful tool which only a handful can lay acclaim to, eg hitler, churchill, luther, conhee et al - heck, i would even include ol'fart without any reservations but they're there in the flesh and their persona shines through, for better or for worse.

perhaps some of us would know whom these precedents are being referred to, but I daresay many would have the ability to sieve out those messiah wannabes and to tell them to go fuck themselves and dispel any doubts when someone's creditability is in doubt.
