Where will the greater value to voters lie?

My take is that a strong and viable alternative MP will spur a more vibrant opposition scene and encourage more to step forward in subsequent elections.

On the other hand, a strong alternate President will still not have access to the accounts so what value can he provide?

What's your take?

A strong and viable alternative MP.
A strong and viable president will be asked to perform ceremonial functions and be told that it will take xxx man years if he wants something to be done.
