9 months ago (edited) My father used to play this song when I was a kid. I’m now going 51 years old next month. Rest in peace Dad. Thank you for the good memories and characters you passed on to me. I have now 2 sons in military. I love you wherever you are.
Ronnie Milsap might be blind like many other great singers
But then God gave them a gift - a beautiful voice.
And how God through this song for eg. will and have affected so many people.
7 years ago Just think of the hardship Ronnie Milsap had to endure, he was born with a disease that left him nearly blind, and would eventually lose his eyesight entirely. He was also abandoned by his mother while he was an infant and then raised in poverty. Despite all of his hardships he developed a musical talent and shared his talent with the world. It is amazing that many of the most gifted artists are blind; Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder and Terri Gibbs to name a few.
2 years ago (edited) Wow! even after all these years this song still reminds me of (2005/07) She and I driving down the shore line of Mary Esther/Navarre/Destin, FL under the stars singing this at the top of our lungs to each other. And although we both married someone else. I swear every time I hear this song I can only try and hide my guilty smile when I think about her.
6 years ago It was the summer of 1981. I had only been home from college for a couple weeks. And then, we lost my mom in a car accident. At that time, she listened to "Ronnie" non-stop. This song came out right around the time of her death. This song has always spoken to me, in a different context in which the lyrics were meant. I miss you mom. Love, Your Oldest Son.
7 years ago (edited) I love how Ronnie had all of these songs about love, life, work, struggles, lovin' and the good things in the world we live in. I knew a waitress in CA back in the early 90's whose sister was Ronnie's housekeeper for many years. She told me a lot about Ronnie and showed me pictures of her sis & family, of her & her husband & kids all visiting with Ronnie at his big old house I believe she said was in Knoxville. Imagine that! A country music super star entertaining the help and her family. She said he was the most down to earth most humble man she ever met and a genuine good guy. I always had the sense that he was something very special. She told me that he most certainly is and that for one thing Ronnie is a Christian - a real one, not one who plays church on Sunday, but one who lives it everyday. He has such a gift. I always loved his music! God bless ya Ronnie!
3 years ago My man wakes up at 5. Leaves for work at 6:15 every morning. Gets to work at 7 and works his ass off until he gets off at 4. I love when 5 o’clock rolls around everyday. Suppers waiting on him. He comes home to a clean house. His clothes are laid out for a shower.. we eat supper together and I get him for the rest of the day.
