SINGAPORE: Foreign Minister George Yeo said the temporary dormitory proposal at Burghley Drive, where Serangoon Garden Technical School used to be located, is at a preliminary stage.

Mr Yeo, who is also an Aljunied GRC MP, was speaking to Serangoon Garden residents at a dialogue on Wednesday.

He said the residents' concerns are legitimate and he will pass their feedback to the Ministry of National Development and Urban Renewal Authority which will be making the final decision.

Mr Yeo added that if he were a resident there, he would share the same concerns on security, congestion and traffic issues. - CNA /ls

The dorm should be built in Hougang or Potong Pasir. These two areas housed the poorest of the poors in Singapore and their house prices are the lowest in Singapore. Will not affect the residents in these two areas at all.

excuse me, but who says housing in these 2 areas are the lowest, and that the poorest of the poor lives in these 2 areas? do you not know that there are also plenty of landed housing here?

and are you implying that hougang and potong pasir residents are second class citizens? how is it that the dorm will not affect us and the dorm will affect serangoon gardens' residents?

if you have something against supporters of opposition parties, pls do keep in mind that we, as hougang and potong pasir residents have our own reasons for continually supporting the opposition.

Excellent idea! WP is supposed to look after oppressed workers and the poor. They should walk the talk. Sylvia Lim and Low TK should set up a table there for their MTP Session.

I fully support this motion. WP can talk these matters in the Parliament and includes more tangibles assistance to the needy :p
