Patron returns $5 fried rice that's plain and uncooked - then gets back new packet 'soaked in chilli'
Stomp contributor Diamond was disappointed when the sambal chicken fried rice she had bought for $5 turned out to be plain and uncooked.
When she went back to the stall, a sales assistant rudely said it was not her responsibility as the food was already cooked.
The reader wrote: "Yesterday night at around 11pm, we felt hungry and went to the nearby food court at our house to get sambal chicken fried rice at $5 per packet.
"After collecting the food and coming back home to eat, we realised that the rice was not cooked and the sambal chicken fried rice looked like white plain rice instead. We felt it was not right for the shop to cook such food when we paid $5 for it.
"When we went to confront the shop regarding the food, this sales assistant from China was so rude and aggressive to say that it was not her responsibility, as no changes can be made once the food is cooked.
"We felt really horrible and of course like anyone else would, we got tense and insisted for the lady to get us a new pack. After she denied our request for 10 minutes, we lost our patience and asked her to call her boss down.
"Immediately without any single reply, she got the cook in the kitchen to get us a new pack of sambal chicken fried rice."
However, Diamond was shocked when she opened the new packet of rice and found it soaked with chilli.
"The rice was soaked with so much chili that we could not put it in mouth as it was extremely spicy.
"My concern over here is to warn all bosses of hawkers centers and restaurants out there.
"When you run a food business, be mindful enough to serve your customers good food. Don't just earn money and let the person regret buying food. Even it's just a dollar, it's still someone's hard-earned money.
"So be reliable in the services you render. I believe workers like this woman need to be trained in handling customers."
