Agreed, Sentosa's drastic fee hike is unreasonable

I REFER to Mr Rohan Langley's letter yesterday, 'IR should not be reason for drastic hike in entry fees'. I strongly agree. Sentosa should not forget there is another group of people who visit the island more for the fun of the sand and the sea than the integrated resort (IR). We did not choose for an IR to be built there, so why bill us for it? Sentosa should remember that we are the earlier group of people who helped it thrive before all the new attractions. I hope Sentosa Leisure Group will adjust the entry fee for this group of island-goers. The price difference between peak and non-peak hour entry is also strange. For us, it is just a visit to the beach. Surely the concept of peak and non-peak hours should apply only to the Central Business District.

Loser Island , IR sure close shop next year .

That sure will happen. When casino cannot generate enough money. They will cut corner to save cost. No/less maintenance on theme park, when that happen accident will hapen. When accident happen that start of domino effect on IR.

Is that what happened when the Spore Flyer broke down :)

Frequent visitor to Sentosa expresses concern that non-IR businesses will be hurt by new move.

I AM confounded by the logic behind Sentosa Leisure Group's decision to raise entry and carpark fees. On Sunday, I had to pay $12 to enter and park in Sentosa when Sentosa Islander members paid just $2 a week ago. In a letter to members, the group said the hike is because of the integrated resort (IR), but isn't the casino entrance before the Sentosa toll gate? Is the group trying to wipe out all Sentosa's non-IR attractions, including F&B outlets, by pricing them beyond the range of consumers?

People I spoke to at Sentosa's Tanjong Beach on Sunday morning said they will no longer go to other parts of the island for lunch after their swim because they will now have to pay another $5 on top of the $5 at Tanjong Beach carpark to reach the other attraction. These beach carparks used to be free. I am a member of a large community of Sentosa beachgoers who visit the place almost every week.

Tanjong Beach is a favourite for people with dogs. But with fees for Sentosa Islander members going up from $2 to $12 just to enter Sentosa and park at Tanjong Beach, dog owners will go to other parts of Singapore to avoid these tolls. But back to Sentosa Leisure Group's commercial decision: How will charging $7 at the Sentosa gantry and another $5 per entry at Tanjong Beach carpark from 7am on a Sunday morning help the group manage traffic flow to the IR? My answer is it will not help at all. Rather, it will hurt business elsewhere on the island.

It's sheer stupidity to enter Sentosa and pay the entry fee.

In the old days, when something like that happens, blocking roads and bridges to collect tolls, we call the the police cause those were bandits doing that. Today, the police are behind them. So nevermind, avoid. Sentosa? Free entry and with casino free also me no time to go. Pay to go? They'd have to arrest me for refusing to go first. Maybe Chia Thye Poh's old detention residence is not bad.

Don't Waste Time There. Just Boycott The Place And All Will Be Well And In Time To Come, No Business From Retailers, They Will Just Reduce. No Reduce, No Go! This Is How We Protest Collectively!

When British and Japanese occupied Singapore, entry to Sentosa (Pulau Belakang Mati) was free except for sampan fare if you can't swim or didn't have your own sampan. After independence, we have to pay to land on our own island? I only have four letters for that begnning with F.
