TAIPEI, Taiwan --Taiwanese actor Kai Ko (Ko Chen-tung), who has been in detention in Beijing since Aug. 14 for allegedly smoking marijuana, will apologize to the public after his release, his agent said Saturday.
Ko is scheduled to hold a press conference in Beijing and another in Taipei to express his remorse, Chai Chih-ping said, adding that details of the press conferences will be announced later.
Chai said she had yet to be notified of Ko's release time, but the actor will likely return to Taiwan on the day he is released.
Chai and Ko's family flew to China from Taiwan Aug. 20 to visit the actor at the detention center in Beijing. Ko's family returned to Taiwan early Saturday.
Upon his return, Ko's father, Ko Yao-tsung, told reporters that his son has to bear responsibility for his own behavior and apologized to the public for failing to teach his son right from wrong.
