Accident victim left to die at bus stop

KOTA KINABALU: An accident victim died after a motorist left her at a bus stop in front of the Tuaran hospital.

The unidentified woman, believed to be in her 30s, was found by police at about 11.20pm on Saturday after they received an anonymous call.

A police team led by Tuaran police chief Deputy Supt Suhaimi Wiro found the woman clad in blue jeans and a T-shirt lying at the bus stop along the Kota Kinabalu-Tuaran road about 40km from here.

She had no identity papers and had a large tattoo of a cross on her arm.

Suhaimi said that police suspect that she was a victim of a hit-and-run and might have been knocked down in another area but abandoned at the bus stop.

“Based on our initial information, we believe that she was hit by a silver Proton Iswara along Jalan Tambalugut and Tamparuli at about 7.30am.

“She was knocked down while crossing the road as several motorists spotted the accident.

“The suspect probably abandoned the woman at the bus stop as witnesses saw a silver Iswara at the bus stop at about 8pm,” he said.

At the moment, police have classified the case as a hit-and-run.

He urged those with information to call 088-794313/088-791966 or the investigating officer Insp Roshaidi or Sjn Zulkifli.

He also urged relatives of the victim to identify the woman who is believed to have died of multiple head and body injuries.
