If needed, USA can bring 7 or 8 to china.

PRC navy will pee in their pants.

Not to mention, when they defeat PRC army, china will sue for peace, and USA can ask them to write off the debt. It is worth their time to send a big force to china.

Talk like that will only bring back MAD.

Cool it bro. I'm not a Communist sympathiser and it doesnt profit me to support Communism. All I am saying is that it is not Communism's philosophy to destroy cultural history. At least not Communism alone. In times of violent revolution, it is common for things and possessions belonging to the old regime to be destroyed to remove the memory from the ordinary people's minds. It is a tool used by conquerors and revolutionaries, not Communsim per se.

Examples; The destruction of the Library of Alexandria, the obliteration of the Library of Baghdad, the burning of books and burying of scholars under China's Qin Dynasty, the destruction of Mayan codices by Spanish conquistadors and priests, and some seem more for publicity for a cause such as Nazi book burnings, the burning of Beatles records after a remark by John Lennon concerning Jesus Christ, and the destruction of the Sarajevo National Library. [ from wikipedia]

Why dont you launch tirades against the Catholic Church, Christianity, Islam, German democracy too? Got the point?

if you still have some form of heart, you will understand what i want to tell you.but if you are supporting communist china becos she's rich now, becos you are a communist chinese yourself or worst you got no brain to think???

Taiwan is no more than an expendable card in the hand of America. They serve no purpose other than antagonising PRC once in a while. It's like migraine, you get used to it. And the sabre rattling stopped when Ah Bian's faction is discredited.

Without proper management of the Taiwan issue, not only could the American counter-terrorism strategy possibly be damaged, but other hotspots worldwide could become explosive as well, forcing the United States to face constant crises at the cost of its national power. Tunisia comes into mind.

The Taiwan issue has also become a key indicator for future Sino-U.S. relations as the mainlanders are becoming more and more powerful by the day and it doesn't help either that the younger generation of PLA officers are not so bedazzled by America's capabilities like their predessesors did. There's nothing the Americans can do except going into war with China but do they dare to ??? If the Americans dare not then the rise of China to knock them off their perch is inevitable.

Now you're someone who knows what I'm talking about. China is not worried about how to send warplanes across the Straits to bomb Taiwan, it's so near to at least three coastal provinces. But one single navy fleet with an aircraft carrier battlegroup that's lurking on the Pacific side of Taiwan, California comes within sailing and combat range, unless US wants to pre-empt that with all-out war there and then or another cold-war blockade stand-off by which they'd bankrupt themselves. Japanese carrier-borne planes couldn't reach California in the propeller era, neither could US planes reach Japan before taking Okinawa. But this is Mach 2-3 jet era.

The only option PRC will leave to Taiwan is to peacefully surrender without blood. This is no without blood really, but without blood on the Taiwan Island. There will be bleeding around it. Depending on who wants to bleed with the Chinese, in particular Americans and Japs and Koreans.

Why so? Because bleeding the Taiwan Island will cause a multiple-life-long of bloody resistance to Beijing's rule, violence separatism and terrorism will persist to oppose Beijing's rule for long time in the future. It is also politically ugly to capture Taiwan by bleeding. PRC plan to rule Taiwan peacefully in the future like HK can Macau.

If some other people Americans Japs Koreans want to bleed to be recorded by history for it, then the blood will spill on their soil and in the Pacific ocean. And you know it that it is quite affordable with China to die millions and destroy some cities. They will heal in no time. With that settled Taiwan will surrender. If that is not New World Order it would be New Asian Order.

The Americans had been very eager to take part in this however their interest is very much reduced these days as their wallet and balls both shrink simultaneously.

PRC is no Qing Dynasty. In preparation for war, they could and would dump all US holdings to render US dollar worthless and US bankrupted. They're not worried about domestic citizens' standards of living. The rich are rich and the poor are poor anyway, only US and their citizens would suffer.

The Korean War had already proven, China can take and absorb casualties numerically and politically that US cannot. That's why North Korea exists till today. What the hell are 7 aircraft carrier groups going to do? Blanket bomb China mainland? Max they could get to is about 3 or 4 coastal provinces.

cannot work, yes usa own china a lot of money
but not enough to crash it

what 7 aircraft carrier can do?

china do not grow enough food for themselves, china do not have enough energy for it's need.

destroy all opposition and maintain blockage, china will run out of petrol and whole nation will collapse like a pack of cards.

Very well written. And I add - US will not go to war with China over Taiwan - it is against US national interest. Just look at few of a wikileak articles on this forum. US constantly asking about N Korea, Iran and China leadership succession.

I agree about young PLA becoming over confident in their capabilities.

7 carriers are useless - yes you can blockade the ports but they are sitting ducks needing refueling and supplies. Meanwhile China can launch a major landwar between NK and SK and US will be fully involved (how about 250K troops). What about support for insurgents in Afghanistan where 150K troops are pinned down.

Energy supply can be had through pipelines from Russia. As for food, welll there is lots of it from Thailand. Burma - just go take a look at map. All the neighbors have ample supply of energy and food and they are in no position to embargo their giant of a neighbor.

Anyway all this is talk and it will never happen. Both sides have too much to lose? Whatever for?

With regard to communism - don't care a rat's ass. as long as the system of governance can improve the lives of its citizens, offer them stability that is a good system. In this regard China has done very well. Ultimately when enough people are economically comfortable they will start pondering about democracy.

Mainland China’s communist government must take a lot of the blame for the misinformation and misconceptions surrounding kung fu today. This topic is too big to be fully discussed in an interview like this so I can only sketch out what has gone on. In the late 20th century, the government systematically suppressed and reinvented, if you will, China’s native art forms. This was one of its methods to manipulate and control the people. For instance, during the Cultural Revolution, the government promoted a total of eight “politically correct” stage plays created specifically for propaganda purposes. For ten years, an entire decade, these eight were the only plays one hundred million people were allowed to see. Another tactic was creating a fictional person—a “sample” or “model” hero--with a long story line of obedience and sacrifice for Chinese children and citizens to emulate. The art of traditional wushu (kung fu) was suppressed and reinvented in the form of modern wushu, a performance art that fuses western and eastern influences. Today, the real art of kung fu is, in fact, suffering....

Chow:

Many thanks for bringing to the attention of this communist treatment of the traditional martial arts.

I teach Wing Chun Kung Fu to a selected group of students in my home basement Kung Fu gym. I say selected because on my first meeting with potential students, I show them just the one movement...the straigth punch...for one hour I get them to practice it.

Then I tell them...just don't bluff thenselves or me....punch 10,000 times quick speed before they come back to me to start the first class. Less than 10% of them come back to me....two reasons: they find me too selective and the other reason, especially among the Chinese, is that Wing Chun (traditional kung fu) is NOT nice and they ended up learning the communist China Wushu where they jump around with all types of fancy kicks and punches.

For those who come to me....only 3 in each class of 2 full hours.....I tell them real kung fu is NOT nice to see. Wing Chun kung fu is simple but confusing and I tell them the during the Cultural Revolution in china 1966 to 76, all traditional kung fu were banned and replaced by the wu shu....for show and demonstrations only and the sha tha (free sparring) does not allow to use elbow ...if they all to use elbow, all those communist fighters will be killed by the Muay Thai boxer.....in fact Muay Thai can be traced back and even most of their movements are Wing Chun movements....like Bruce Lee's Jeet Kwan Do.

To learn true Chinese traditional kung fu, one must NOT go to communist China but to Hong Kong, Malaysia, Vietnam and now in western countries. It was in S.E Asia and Hong Kong and Taiwan where the true traditional kung fu were preserved....during the mid 1960s, our uncles and elder brothers were the ones who had the pugulistic competition for traditional kung fu...during that time there were no representative from the damn communist China.

Like it or not, Taiwan/ROC would be part of PRC sooner or later. Every year you see them increase another "service", "agreement" between the two region. The Chinese have the wisdom and patience to rush this. ROC depends on PRC more then the other way round.

Why would they build a high-speed rail to Taipei if they are not buddies to begin with? PRC/ROC, all the same eventually.

Don't understand what's with this PRC and ROC problem. Why can't they come to a settlement and arrangement like for USA and UK? Or even like UK and Ireland?

They have, its called cross-straits talks. Its held almost every year now, and every year they introduce a new service, agreement between them.

What some of the people would like you to believe is that the relationship is still bad, and that they are spreading FUD about war happening between them.

It's all politics. The PRC wants to be on top while ROC refuses to be under. From those I know in Taiwan, the ordinary man in the street cares little about ROC or PRC, red or green. Already, business relationships are going on within businessmen, and there is little restriction in the way of travel between the two countries' citizens, altho the Taiwanese passport is not recognised in PRC, so a special entry permit has to be issued and this could be always/easily done in HK. All this just to show who has the upper hand.

Taiwan has always been used by the Yanks to disturb the PRC and give it headaches. However, the effect has been nullified since the ROC realizes it needs the PRC for their business to survive. Japan, US long-time ally, has become less pro-US due to the DPJ in power. The US can only rely on South Korea, but even then SK is too small to make PRC sweat. I will not be surprised if the US has been secretly "training" Uighur and Tibetans to create trouble in China. I don't think it is a coincidence that Tibetan riots and Xinjiang riots happen so close to each other.

As one Samster has mentioned, the PLA youth leaders are hot-headed and ready to engage against the US. But likewise, US Army is also having youth leaders who are equally hot-headed. Youth is a dangerous thing at times, with too much quick-tempered decisions made without thinking of consequences. For the world to be genuinely at peace, one can only hope war does not break out on both sides. And also, the Republicans or Tea Party does not assume power from the Democrats.

"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."
