Gary Yeo, Mohd Elfie Mustapha, Lee Cheng Wei and Mohd Amiruddin Jamal clocked 39.82 sec to win silver in the 4 x 100 relay in the SEA games. The winning Thai team clocked 39.34 sec.

I cannot recall any Singaporean winning a track medal of any import (with or without imports) after Chee Swee Lee.

The SAA have done brilliantly to win this silver without FT imports.

A new NATIONAL RECORD as well.
1st time a Singapore 4x100 have gone below 40 seconds.
CLAP CLAP CLAP!!! WELL DONE !!!

Well, it's not as if SAA didn't try to get FTs - it's just that they screwed up at almost every turn.

More importantly, SAA has pissed off many of its Singaporean athletes as well. Considering the tradition we had, with C Kunalan, K Jayamani, Heather Marican, Chee Swee Lee, et. al., SAA must have bent over backwards to go wrong.

For me these four young men won silver in spite of rather than because of SAA.

Think you have your facts wrong about the pissing off part.

Go through the history of AGMs at the SAA and you will get a clearer picture.

Currently, there seems to be a young "invisible hand from atop Mt. Olympia" at work.
Of course its a political hand lah.

BTW, it was also announced in the SUCKTIMES today that SSC and StanCheck will hold a PEOPLE's MARATHON in 2010....

LunCheow wait and see if S'poreans will support a 'political named' PEOPLE's MARATHON. I won't!:oIo:

.......while the SAA will hold their own SINGAPORE MARATHON 2010
