A Singaporean's guide to living in Thailand

This time of the year, there are many makeshift beer gardens, usually near big shopping centre. The bigger ones usually have live band. Usually, the beer gardens are managed by either Chang or Singha and sometimes Heineken. In Pattaya, the two venues for big scale beer garden are the podium facing the beach at Central Festival and and Central Marina.

Alamak, should have taken more pics of this sao sao.:(:(;)

Only very few people know my origins. Most either think I am a local or Gao Li or Pa Ma (Myanmar). KNN , Even have people guess Kam Pu cha/ Kha Men (Cambodia). Probably because I wear a Cambodia scarf aka Krama all the time. Talk abou Cambodia stuff a litte bit. Krama is a multi purpose scarf that is very common in Cambodia and some North East province where there is a significant Cambodian presence.

In Pattaya, most of the construction sites are dominated by Cambodia workers. So can see them using Krama scarfs as headwear, scarf, mask, hankerchief, towel and belt etc. Krama is very Khmer and during Vietnam war, the Vietcongs adopt Krama. Different colors for different combat units.

Most hi so quite look down on the krama because consider as peasant or farmers wear

Really multi purpose and versatile.

my personal collection of krama. Simi color also have.
green krama scarf during ns days in the field was very helpful. not only it took care of sweat around head and neck, it provided shade on the head during breaks when helmets were off. it was also useful as a concealment piece of cloth as it broke outlines and shapes, such as covering the barrel and stock of a rifle. it became popular among riflemen during my ns days, but it wasn’t standard issue of the saf. not sure if saf guniangs use them now.

Edit: Add this
Incident happen at Soi Paniad Chang near Big C Pattaya Klang.

Bangkokians promised cool weather starting Sunday

Breaking News December 15, 2017 15:59
By The Nation

Bangkokians might get a chance to wear a jacket for a change starting on Sunday. The weather forecast agency chief on Friday promised Bangkokians, who have been envying those chilling out in the North for a month, that they will get their share of cool weather on Sunday.

Wanchai Sakudomchai, director general of the Meteorological Department, said a new round of cool weather for Bangkok would remain until December 22.

From Sunday to December 22, the morning temperature could drop to 18 or 19 degrees Celsius.

The weather will briefly warm after December 22 before again dropping prior to the New Year holidays, Wanchai added.

He said the mercury will drop because a cold weather mass moved down to central China on Friday and will reach the central, northern and northeastern regions of Thailand on Saturday and Bangkok on Sunday.

He said the rains experienced in Bangkok on Thursday and Friday were caused by the warmer weather and accompanying wind blowing humidity inland.

There could be more rain on Saturday and Sunday before the temperature drop, he added.

Thanks P’ YY for the weather update. Nice cool Saturday morning. Actually the cool spell already started in Pattaya yesterday late evening.

Very heavy rain and many parts of Pattaya experience light to severe pondings but subsided quite fast.

The Thai words means. Beware of Imitation goods (top row). Insist on the original Richard Milles (bottom row). In Thailand, fakes or imitations are known as “korb” ( short form for copy). No need to be shy if you want the fake ones. Just say ”korb” . For the opposite, The original is call “tair”. So fake ones are known as “Kong korb” and original is call “kong tair”.

Lunch at home. Prefer to eat yellow noodle with duck meat but modt braised duck noodle stall dont have yellow noodle so Bought “gao Lao ped” means duck only no noodle. Usually gao lao is more expensive since they give more meat.

Yellow noodle bought at Big C.

Bought and delivered the hampers. Finally settle for Tesco Lotus hampers due to budget constraint as buying in bulk.

Christmas in Pattaya is very commerical so its only the bars and pubs have celebrations which is nothing more than decorating shops with colorful balloons and lights and asking the bargirls to put on santa claus clothings, just to earn a few baht from ang mohs. Thais dont celebrate Christmas. Even the Russkies do not celebrate Christmas.

As for new year, will be more quiet as a huge chunk of workers will return to their hometowns for celebration with their families.

Korean tourist hurt in fight with Pattaya minibus operators
CHON BURI: A tourist from South Korea sustained injuries in a fight with a group of minibus operators following a heated exchange of words early on Sunday, police said.

The incident occurred at about 4.30am at an intersection near Wat Chaimongkol temple in South Pattaya, tambon Nong Prue.

Tourist police who rushed to the scene on being informed of the incident found Hyon Soo-bae, 53, lying on the footpath, unable to move from an injury in the right leg. He was admitted to Pattaya Memorial Hospital.

A Thai woman accompanying the Korean said the incident occurred while they were returning to a hotel in a songthaew minibus. When told by a minibus conductor to move further inside, the Korean man said he would rather sit near the rear exit because his large stature would make it difficult for him to get off the vehicle. The two sides exchanged verbal abuse.

When the Korean man decided to get off to walk away, he was reportedly attacked by a group of minibus operators and a fight ensued. The tourist ended up lying on the footpath, while the attackers dispersed.

Police were checking the footage from security cameras in the area to help identify the attackers.

Never seen actual product myself but seen this before in many online shops and facebook shops.

Bought other items from lazada before. Quite fast delievery. If item is too bulky, you might need to collect it at the post office. Some also offer payment on delivery means you pay only when item is delivered.

You can try to look for this item on the third floor at Tuk Com Pattaya South where there are 2-3 shops selling specialised photography products.

Example of what I said before about bunch of taxi motorsai taxis and songtaew robbers and scums in Pattaya. Useless in everything except only dare to bully when in numbers.

Thainess at its best. Thainess determines that it's always a minimum 5 against 1 foreigner.
