Toon achieves B700m goal 16 days early

Marathon man Toon Bodyslam has achieved his goal to raise 700 million baht for public hospitals, with 16 days and 690 kilometres still left in his epic adventure.

The rock star turned runner, also known as Artiwara Kongmalai, was in Chai Nat on Saturday when he learned that the fund-raising goal he had set had already been reached.

He is on the 39th day (including breaks) of a 55-day, 2,191-kilometre journey that is taking him from the country's southernmost point in Betong district of Yala to the northernmost tip at Mae Sai of Chiang Rai.

So far, according to the Kao Kon Lakao (everyone takes a step) website, he has run 1,500.3km in 270 hours on the road. He is scheduled to run through 20 more provinces to reach the finish line on Dec 25.

As he arrived in Chai Nat at 5am, the frontman of the popular band Bodyslam was welcomed by cheering supporters along the route. The crowd cooperated with requests from the rocker’s team by not obstructing his path to avoid hurting him.

He reached the 1,500km mark after crossing Chao Phraya River in the central province.

Toon will rest on Sunday and resume his marathon on Monday, heading toward Nakhon Sawan along Phahon Yothin Road.

Toon began his south-to-north journey on Nov 1 with a target to raise 700 million baht, or 10 baht each from the nearly 70 million people in Thailand. The donations will be given to 11 state hospitals for needed medical equipment.

He raised 85 million baht for Bang Saphan Hospital in December 2016 by running 400km from Bangkok to the hospital.

Toon can run to DPM Prawit's house and ask for the Richard Mille to be donated.

Some assholes are just ungrateful and unrepentent. The way to handle such asshole is to stay away from them and not have anything to do with them.

Disadvantage of being a foreigner here when dealing with locals. Side own people than side logic.

something totally different in Sinkieland

Money face CB kia want to tax 7% from the donation money. Really KNNBCCB.

I think it boils down to culture. Don't forget the Thais did not have Confucius and Mencius to lay down the marker. The concept of righteousness can be completely alien to some. For them, it's 道义放两旁,利字摆中间。

Turn out to be a fake news. PM clarified no tax on the charity donations.

KNN like that also can.
Say watch belong to friend and diamond rings belong to mother.

Yup. There is no Thai word for 義 in Thai vocabulary. Thai unfaithfulness and infidelity is among the highest in the world.

Bling again? Lame kawan excuse? Why not say borrowed from pawn shop?

Scepticism abounds about Prawit’s ‘borrowed’ watch
December 11, 2017 01:00
By THE NATION

Deputy pm to explain luxury items to NACC amid concerns about integrity of probe and anti-graft chief’s neutrality.

DEPUTY Prime Minister and Defence Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan will submit an explanatory letter to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) tomorrow regarding his controversial possession of a high-end watch and diamond ring, according to a source close to Prawit.

The letter, now at the Defence Ministry office, will be forwarded to the NACC after the long weekend.

An unconfirmed local report also claimed that Prawit’s ring was an inheritance from his mother while what looks like a multi-million-baht Richard Mille watch was borrowed from Prawit’s businessman friend.

The source close to Prawit refused to confirm those claims, adding that the junta’s number-two leader would explain the issue only to the NACC.

The NACC is now presided over by Pol General Watcharapol Prasarnrajkit, who used to serve as a deputy secretary-general to the prime minister attached to Prawit.

While Watcharapong has said that any NACC member with conflicts of interest would not be allowed to investigate the case, he did not clarify whether he would step aside from the investigation.

Preecha Suwannathat, a former Anti-Corruption Commis-sion member and one of the NACC’s founding figures, said it would be difficult for Prawit to justify the watch’s origin if he really had borrowed it from a friend.

“It just sounds too easy,” Preecha said. “In that case, he will need to bring a friend to verify his claim. That friend will also need to tell the truth if he doesn’t want to be guilty of providing false information to the NACC.

“If that friend turns out to be a civil servant, he will need to be investigated also,” he said.

The investigation standards should not be altered as a result, he added, “unless there is some other agenda, especially regarding the NACC president who is now being watched”.

Last week, the NACC gave Prawit 30 days to justify his possession of the two extravagant items, which he wore when |taking a group photo with the recently reshuffled Cabinet last Monday.

The photo of the 72-year-old retired general shielding his eyes with his hand, displaying what appeared to be extremely expensive accessories, quickly caught the public’s attention amid questions how a lifelong military officer could afford such luxuries.

In relation to questions about his “unusual wealth”, Prawit also came under fire in 2014 when he entered the Cabinet after he failed to declare any assets worth more than Bt200,000 to the NACC.

Although there still has not been a confirmation on the model of the Richard Mille that Prawit was wearing, possible models are estimated to cost from Bt4 million to Bt10 million.

As a result of the controversy, Prawit has again become an Internet sensation, although not in a way that a veteran military official might wish.

“Too bad, I am no Prawit so I can afford just this candy ring,” said one person wrote on Facebook, showing off a Ring Pop candy on his hand.

555 now many joke on social media about mum and kawan logic. What a stupidity? if NACC accept this logic, you can imagine what the subsequent people under investigation by NACC will say? Can say unexplainable expensive things are from paternal great grand father, paternal great grand ma, grand father, grand uncle, second grand uncle, third grandma..................(countless relatives) etc.

Prawit should hurry down to Patpong night bazaar and get a fake Richard Mille to show the investigators. He will lose some face for sure, but will save his skin.

Actually in sinkieland, the m&ds also side with their own kind rather than logic.

Ter Huan Giam Chai at favorite Tom Luad Moo shop at pattaya klang.

5555 just now have shitskins come in ask for england menu. Only have thai and chinese and picture menu. Waiters dont even care. Shitskins stand there like machiam rajah. Knn in the end also lan lan go.

Spotted the discrepancy from the earlier Michelin piece which said abalone noodles priced up to bht10,000. Still, too blxxdy expensive for the likes of us here, never mind khun Thais -notwithstanding her boast of hiso clientele:oops:. I'd just settle for standard menu

Jay Fai, located in the Samranrat area, is a street-food eatery that can accommodate about 50 people. Despite its humble ambience, Jay Fai is known for premium local seafood dishes, such as crabmeat omelette priced from Bt800 to Bt2,000, and abalone noodle in gravy, which is priced up to Bt10,000.

“I still cook with a charcoal oven and carefully select only the best local ingredients,” says 72-year-old owner, Supinya Junsuta, known as Jay Fai. “Although my eatery always welcomes high-profile figures and international chefs, I didn’t expect to get a Michelin star. It’s beyond my expectations to get one star and it’s my greatest honour.”

Big news in Pattaya and soon, the whole world. Net Idol kenna arrested for e ciggie procession. Complaint police physically abuse her. Police complaint she resist arrest and use abusive words and also physically abuse mata.

http://thairesidents.com/local/police-file-defamation-charge-net-idol/
Even choowit also come out and say something. This man has my respect despite having a very not so clean past. So far, no other politicians has came forward to say anything. But also take note choowit has a long history of complaining mata abuse and corruptions

i believe net idol exaggerate about the whole things knowing she has many fb followers. I used to be a regular visitor to Pattaya mata house so i am familiar with the mata house and lockup process and some of the matas. Not likely a mata is able to physically abuse a suspect cos the whole damm place is so small.

Btw. Anyone have problems with eciggie or minor offense problem with Pattaya mata house can contact me. Know people who can offer bail legally for a small fee.

One sided lah. Resisted arrest and hurl vulgarities at mata. Mata have the rights to subdue the suspect if suspect turn violent and resist arrest.
The mistake made by mata is that does the procession of e ciggies justify such treatment. it is not a violent crime where there is a danger to others and public.
I ever spent a night inside with other offenders. most offenders cooperate and is released next after the bail paperwork is done or go to court. Occassionally have very drunk case where offender do not cooperate.

btw. courthouse is very near to where u staying.

Miss Thailand 2017's back home. Could give up my right arm for her (and my left arm can still do wonderful things with her) :D:p

I believe I have posted about the consequences of getting caught having e -ciggies in Pattaya many months ago but couldnt find the post.

Anyway, I will say again. Its a seizable offense if caught during road block and spot checks.

The fine can be up to 100,000 baht and jail term plus pay taxes. I know there are stalls selling openly in night markets but dont even think of buying unless 100,000 baht and jail in chonburi prison is sup sup soi to you.
