BANGKOK: -- An online petition to seek justice for the handicapped breadseller killed by a gang of six youths in Bangkok on May first has raised 23,000 signatures.

The petition under the name "Seeking justice - in the case of police children killing handicapped man" will be presented officially to the office of the Prime Minister at ten am today , Monday.

The main aim of the petition is to change the charge that the youths face from one of killing with intent to a charge of premeditated murder reported Daily News

The attack happened in the Chok Chai four area of northern Bangkok. Thirty six year old Somkiat Srichan who had a leg handicapped was attacked with knives in broad daylight. Four of the six attackers, who have all been held, are children of police officers at Chok Chai station. A girl has also been held for egging on the men.

The petition was started by an ordinary member of the public, Chakrakarit Meechai, and originally had a target of 25,000 names. In six days he managed to get the names of 23,000 people on the www.Change.org site.

The case has outraged the Thai public. Police have assured the public that justice will be done but many people are concerned that the charge should be one of premeditation even though police have said they are not sure they have sufficient evidence to make that stick.

Many members of the public who have seen the video clip of the Sunday morning attack think otherwise.

BANGKOK: -- A fire broke out late this morning at Tawan Daeng Sardsaengduen entertainment complex on Suksawat road in Ratburana district and was quickly raging to adjacent movie theatre and shopping plaza.

Ratburana police said the fire happened at about 10.00 am on the second floor of the entertainment complex where many people were working inside.

The complex was located near Major Hollywood movie theatre and the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives.

As the fire raged hundreds of people were seen running out of their offices inside the complex and shopping plaza.

A dozen of fire engines arrived and firefighters broke into the complex in search of people who might be trapped inside as thick smoke still billowing from the raged building.

Four people were rescued from the building and immediately rushed to Bang Pakok hospital for treatment of suffocation.

One was reported died at hospital for suffocation.

The fire was kept under control before noon.

The cause of fire was under investigation.

Man Wins Desperate Struggle to Free Penis From Toilet Python

CHACHOENGSAO — It was less than a good morning for Atthaporn Boonmakchuay today. Not after a python slithered out of his squat toilet, bit his penis and refused to let go.
Atthaporn, who just regained consciousness, spoke from his hospital bed Wednesday afternoon to recount the ordeal he experienced in the bathroom of his home east of Bangkok in Chachoengsao province, which he’d entered for his morning routine of a shower and protracted bowel movement.Atthaporn said he had just squatted over his toilet for his usual 30 minutes of morning business, according to Khon Khao Bang Pakong, when the python rose from the depths to fasten its jaws around the end of his penis.As his wife Sawittree Shooyoung would tell Thairath, that’s when she heard him scream for help and call for a rope. Entering the bathroom, Sawittree found her bleeding husband fighting with the nearly 4-meter long python. She gave him the rope as requested.Just before he passed out from loss of blood, Atthaporn grasped the serpent by its head and managed to use the rope to tie it to the bathroom door.The 38-year-old man was taken to a nearby hospital, while rescue workers were left to deal with the rampaging reptile, whose body was still mostly stuck in the squat toilet.Workers removed the toilet from the house, at which point they took a hammer to it to free the body of the beast.Atthaporn is in stable condition. Flanked by grinning doctors, he told reporters that he was careful to unhinge the reptile’s jaws rather than forcing it free and risking permanent damage to his self.Authorities suspect the python entered the home through a pipe that led it into the toilet. It will be released back to nature, Thairath reported.

BANGKOK — A deadline passed at 4pm today for Red Bull heir Vorayuth “Boss” Yoovidhya to meet with prosecutors four years after he killed a Thonglor cop, but the 31-year-old fugitive will be given yet another chance before a warrant is sought for his arrest.

Prosecutor Suthi Kittisupaporn said Vorayuth’s failure to appear Wednesday afternoon without providing a reason will be met with a second request for Thonglor police, who are responsible for the case, to summon him.

Ayuthaya restaurant shooting leaves two dead, many injured in hail of bullets

AYUTHAYA: -- A major shooting committed by ten men at a roadside restaurant in Ayuthaya on Wednesday night left two men dead and many injured from stray bullets.

Police believe the attack is linked to jealousy over a woman who had a new boyfriend.

Ayuthaya police who rushed to the Isan food restaurant on the Ayuthaya - Ban Pom road found a scene of carnage. Six men were lying injured on the ground one of them a 13 year old boy caught in the crossfire reported Daily News.

Witnesses said that earlier four cars and pick-ups had arrived at the restaurant. Ten men had piled out and started shooting as customers dived for cover with some being hit by stray bullets. When the attack that lasted up to two minutes was over the assailants got back in their vehicles and left.

All the injured were rushed to hospital where two brothers Kampanat Sattham, 35, and Kittipong Sattham, 20, were pronounced dead from gunshot wounds to the chest. Sarawut Charoensuk, 13, Sanchai Rungjaeng, 32, and Kraisorn Suphidaen, 35 were hospitalized with leg and arm wounds sustained in the shooting. Another man only slightly hurt was allowed home.

Police found one gun and twenty spent cartridges of three different types at the scene of the shooting. They learnt that Kampanat and his brother had arrived in their pick-up to eat at the restaurant. Around ten men in four cars arrived and started shooting into the restaurant.

They believe that the shooting is over a woman. One of the victims had been showing an interest in a woman at the restaurant. She had just split up from another man. Police believe that friends of the ex-boyfriend carried out the shooting as he was jealous of her having a new lover.

Police arrest Khao Sarn restaurant manager who punched a British tourist

Police arrested a Khao Sarn restaurant manager for assault Friday after a British tourist was punched in the face.

The tourist had been refused by staff to use the toilets because he was not a customer. He had then ordered cocktails and so was allowed to use the rest room. On emerging he tried to leave the restaurant without paying and threw a twenty baht note in the face of the manager. Then the assault happened.

Tourist police moved swiftly "to protect Thailand's tourist image" after a clip appeared on Facebook of a man in a light blue shirt shouting angrily at the Chana Songkram police station at the end of Khao Sarn road.

Weerawut Saengthong, 34, a resident of Bang Khae, Bangkok, who is the manager of the restaurant in question was soon arrested after officers saw the clip. Police soon discovered more details.

The British tourist was a man called Will. Shortly after one am on Thursday morning he had asked restaurant staff if he could use the toilets but he was turned down because he was not a customer. Will then ordered cocktails to the value of 700 baht and went to use the facilities in the restaurant. He emerged soon after and tried to leave the restaurant without paying his bill. Weerawut got angry. The Brit then threw a twenty baht note in his face making him furious and resulting in the assault in which the tourist was hit in the face.

Police spokesman Surachet Hakpan said that this was a worrying incident. Apart from being against the law this kind of behavior was damaging the tourist image of the country, he noted.

Weerawut has been charged with assault.

Corrupt police allegedly selling Doraemon stickers as police protection

BANGKOK: -- Corrupt police may be selling Doraemon stickers to foreign vendors as street protection, according the Bangkok Post.

Vendors pushing fruit, ice cream and other carts featuring sticker images of Japanese manga cartoon character Doraemon may have purchased insurance from corrupt officers. The “insurance” allows them to sell and know they will not be arrested for either illegal vending nor their illegal status in the country.

Authorities call them "suai stickers" and believe they are a recent criminal tool. With this new intelligence, they’re cracking down on illegal foreign street vendors and investigating the possible practice of corrupt officers using the stickers to protect the illegal vendors in exchange for bribe money.
